Floating into the new year

I am slowly drifting into the new year.

The new year is full of potential and I am hoping to embrace it all, hopefully more good than bad. I won't make any resolutions, I will just try to be the person I know I am inside. That is my goal for the new year.

Twas the night

Before Christmas when all through the house the furry little creatures were messing about. A little girl lay all snug in her sack while waiting for Santa to come back. She tired her hardest to stay awake, but the warmth of the fire cause her to drift off to dreamland. She had dreams of cookies and cake all of which her mother did bake. On Christmas morning oh the joy as she unwrapped each and every toy. And now my post has come to an end and with it I say Happy Christmas to all and to all a good Thursday!

Bikini Beach Bum

As I warned the other day it is summer here in the Northern Hemisphere and so you will have lots of summer posts from me. Today is no exception. With Summerfest '14 in full swing I thought it only fitting to hit the beach in some of my new pretties. I of course didn't want to go in the water and mess up my hair so I chilled on the dock and watched the sun set.

I was all set with cushion and drinks. I could have stayed out there for hours after the sun set to watch the stars come to life.
The setting sun allowed my to slide my shades up as my feet dangled in the water. You couldn't ask for a more perfect day at the beach, though I could have used some company. Maybe next time I will invite some friends along for the fun.

After all summer is just getting started and I have many more bikinis and pairs of sunglasses to wear!

She Sits Alone

She sits alone in her chair
fingers twirling around her hair.
Her thoughts disturbed by many a thing
lost love has cast it's dreadful sting.
The house remains empty the furniture in despair
for lack of company she once shared.
His face she misses his smile and charm.
He was the one who tamed the fire that raged in her soul, and made it once again calm.
And so she sits alone in her chair

A closed book lay beneath her feet
another chapter in her lonesome life she is yet to complete.
One day happiness will come to her as she waits,
picnics dinners, and other fancy dates.
A chance to live again and forget the man she lost
her heart has turned cold into such a wintery frost.

Beach Day!

When I am excited I can act like a little kid, especially when I am looking forward to going somewhere. I am not above getting dressed and then pouncing to wake people up.

What can I say it was beach day and I wanted to get going.Once I got him awake and to the beach we had a great day. We had a little picnic, splashed in the water, you know all the fun beach activities. The icing on the cake of a great day was watching the sun set together.

Hazy Sunny Day

I don't know about where you live, but where I am it is down right freezing. In an insane effort to warm myself up I decided to hit the beach in SL.
I tucked a flower behind my ear and donned a little top and comfortable skirt and hit the beach. Sometimes it helps to imagine yourself some place warm. I am thinking today I need to seek out the fires of Hell to warm myself!
This trip to the beach also afforded me the chance to wear one of the belly rings I picked up at Oh My Gacha earlier in the month. What can I say when it's cold I tend to keep my belly covered up.

Heading "South"

Now when you live at the North Pole pretty much everywhere is South. I decided to take a little trip down south to see how the human world celebrated Christmastime.
I am sure I would have gotten some funny looks about not wearing a coat in the snow if I had run into any humans, but I was safe. See being from the North Pole I have a high tolerance for the cold and snow.
Of course my cheeks don't get all chilled like a humans, mine get all blushed and covered in stars. If you ever see a human look like this it means there is North Pole elf blood in them, no matter how diluted. I was a little upset while on my trip though.
I mean is the seriously what humans think we North Pole elves do all the time? I mean we live normal lives too you know. I mean sure the toy making is a year round thing, but we do eat more than cookies! And we know more than just Christmas songs. You humans don't sing them year round do you? I didn't think so! I am going to leave before I rant some more. Back to the North Pole I go!

Paperdolls - Day Two

Today is day two of my paperdoll doppelganger series. This one shows my obvious love of stars. It was hard not to let my favorite creep in when I was doing these dolls originally.
I came pretty darn close with the shirts and skirt today. And yes I went old school prim with that skirt. Hey I work with what I can find.
The hair may not be exactly the same, but the colors are fairly close-ish. Like I said yesterday I took a little creative license with the looks or else I would have spent more time searching the whole of SL than I spent actually taking pictures and blogging!

Paperdolls - Day one

I know not a very creative title. Here is the premise for this series of posts, for a while on plurk Aevalah would post a paperdoll link and a bunch of us would make one and share them. I thought it would be fun to try and mirror those looks in SL, with a little creative license because some things are harder to find than others.
This is the first one I attempted. As you can see I tried to keep the basics the same, but changed up the socks and things like that. For the record all the peperdolls this week are going to be of the non-fantasy type, because those are so much harder.

A Princess Proposition

Location: The Gumball Kingdom, I am the princess of the realm after all.
A little about yourself... I am a big fan of gum in any shape or size, but I have a love for gumballs. I mean so many colors! I do have princessy duties that I must attend to often, and these do include attending various Balls. My favorite ones are of course The Annual Gum Ball, The Whopper Ball, and The Sour Ball can be fun too with the right company. The Sour Ball serves the best apple martinis.
What I am looking for... I am looking for a nice candy and gum loving gentleman for long walks along the Candy Cane Lane or picnic while we watch the cotton candy clouds. Orange for Unity Day

So today I am going to get deeper and more personal than I normally do. Today happens to be Unity Day, to unite to stop bullying. October isn't just Breast Cancer Awareness month, it is also National Bullying Prevention Month. Instead of wearing pink though the color for Bullying Prevention is orange.
I was teased when I was a kid and it sucked, however it doesn't come close to what kids go through now a days, and at a younger age too. Last year my son was bullied to the point where he was threatening suicide, he was only 9 at the time. Now I know that he would never hurt himself, but it is scary as a parent hearing that from your child. He is different than other kids his age and it's not his fault, but they just saw him as being different and bullied him till he couldn't take it anymore. We pulled him from that school and did all we could to move to a better school system and so far things have been a million times better.
If you see someone being bullied, speak up! You never know, you could be saving a life.

The Last Gasp of Summer

Summer is sadly coming to an end soon, although for my kids it has been over for a few weeks now. I thought I would get one last hit of summer in before embracing the sweaters and pants the cooler weather brings.

In Dreams...

... I can pull off a short hair cut.
I know it seems like something silly to dream of, but sometimes when I see someone with a cute pixie cut or something similar I wish I could pull it off. Sadly I know how RL me looks with short hair and it is not pretty.
This short hair however looks fantastic on me. I feel quite posh with the short hair, and I don't mean in a Spice Girls kind of way either. Maybe it the shades giving me that feeling? I think I need more coffee so I am going to go make some while you check out the credits.

Tremaine Wicked

You would think that dressing up two ladies would be easy for me, but for some reason I had a hard time with these two. If you didn't know this is Anastasia and Drizella, the wicked step-sisters from Cinderella. Here is a random RL factoid. When we were at Disney World in December we had our picture taken with Cinderella, the prince, Drizella, Anastasia and their mother. Anastasia told my little man that he was a prince because he was being polite. SO maybe they aren't so wicked afterall? Oh and I totally was arm in arm with the prince...Cinderella had to share for the moment. I am going to relive that moment while you check out the credits.

Miss Schweetz

It seems I am always in catch up mode. This week I am catching up with Vanellope, the adorable character from Wreck-It-Ralph. Funny story, my daughter had crazy hair day at school a while back and she wanted her hair to look like Vanellope's. So here is was trying to make candy barrettes for her hair. It wasn't pretty, but she liked them so that is all that mattered. If you haven't watched Wreck-It-Ralph you should check it out. Not only is it cute but the retro game characters will unleash your inner child.
I won't say any more on the movie, because I don't want to give anything away. This has been my attempt at Vanellope, hope you liked it.

Mad as a Hatter

It was fun styling the Mad Hatter. Maybe it was because my favorite color was involved? No matter the reason it was fun and I got a little spoiled by Lola. You see every once in while I will show her my look and she will tell me straight up if it sucks. My first look overused system layers, at least in her mind so she bought me some mesh shorts. I have to admit I do look pretty fine in my shorts.
The last thing that I bought for this look was the hat, for some reason I was being very picky about it. I finally found one that suited me. Now I need to get back to work on Vanellope ( from Wreck-It-Ralph)!

Sunny Cafe

I am back out wandering the wilds of SL. I seem to be drawn to the little cafes that are scattered about the grid. That seems about right since I love little coffee houses and cafes in RL. Today I am almost head to toe Arcade clad...I did say almost, not all of it is from the Arcade. I believe I warned you yesterday that I would be showing up in more of the Glam Affair skins and I am true to my word. And yes I am clad in yellow. I was wearing purple too much for my taste lately.
