Storytime

My dragon friends love it when I read them stories. I try to make sure the stories all have dragons, but not terrible knight who go around killing dragons. Stupid knights don't know what they are doing! All because one dragon once went a little crazy and terrorized a village now all dragons are bad. Hrumf I say. The Dragon Queen, also known as my mom, watches out for all the in our land. I get to play with all the little whelps. They are too adorable for words! That little one who is trying to read over my shoulder is always following me around. I think it may be because our wings are the same color.

Running Late

When you are running late for something I suggest bringing donuts. No one can be mad when you bring donuts...right? I am really late with this post, by like a month, but you forgive me don't you because I have donuts. You see I have a very good reason to have been blog absent, I have moved. It was a big move for me, from the Northeastern part of the US to the Southeastern part. I had to wait for my computer and everything to arrive. I took forever or so it felt. But I am back and should be blogging like normal and yesterday Sakura, my partner in crime came back so yay!

Kitty Sitting

Watch my cats she asked, don't worry they are well behaved she said. I foolishly believed her.

Now I am trying to get work done and there are kitties everywhere! Sure there are the well behaved ones chilling under my desk, but then there are the trouble makers. I didn't even think there was room in my purse for a cat to squeeze into! And then there is the one nestled in my box of receipts. I hope my accountant isn't allergic to cats. Then there is the grey one, he likes being on my desk, mostly on my keyboard so I am hoping the tablet will keep him occupied for a little while. One, two...six. Six!?!?! I could have sworn there were seven! Be right back I have a kitty to find!

I found her! She crept upstairs. How I could have missed her purpleness not being downstairs with the rest is beyond me. Hopefully their mommy will be back from her trip soon. I think one on one is more my speed when it comes to kitties.

Picnic Time

I thought it was time to drag Bunny out for a picnic. She was a bit on the reluctant side. Okay she was downright cranky about it, but she still agreed. Now normally in my posts I don't mention designers by name, but this time I am. Don't fear it's for a totally good reason. You see the cute pose I have going on here. Geppetto's Great Great Great Grandson

Being one of Geppetto's family you hear tale of how his son started off as a wooden boy. Now it may just be a tale told to explain the sudden appearance of a young boy at Geppetto's house, or it could be real. Over the years his family just came to accept it as it was and thought nothing of it. That is until his many greats grandson decided to test this story out.

This young man went through all the hard work to crave himself a wooden lady. He was not ready to be a father. Night after night he would wait and wish on a star just as the story had told.
Each and every night he would carefully pose his wooden lady in hope that she would become real.

He may still be there waiting and wishing upon all the stars in the sky. Maybe a blue fairy will come to him and make her real for him. Or maybe he will give up this wold idea and go find himself a woman who is already living.

Fleeing into the night

When I saw this set from Faida and Fallen Gods Inc. it make me think of the fall of Czarist Russia. It may not be exactly historically accurate but then again this isn't a history class. I imagine our fleeing damsel here to be a lady of the court and hearing all the commotion in the palace and high tailed it out of there to preserve her own life. Whether she made it to safety or not I will let you decide, as there was much turmoil in the world at the time of the fall of Czarist Russia.

Garden Maze

I have always wanted to go into a garden maze before in my non-digital life, and one of these days I hope to. I have had fun in corn mazes before, but it's just not the same as lush garden greens. So for now I have decided to be content with the digital version.

I have always wondered what happens if someone gets lost in a garden maze. I mean you can't exactly cut through the hedges, at least not that I imagine. How do they make sure no one is lost in it over night? I guess I could Google it but the answers I make up in my head are probably more amusing than the truth. I took several wrong turns and hot many a dead end before coming to the center of the garden maze I visited.

When I did get to the center it was very serene. There were butterflies flitting about and of course flowers. As you can see there are tulips in the center and tulips just happen to be my favorite flower.

On the Naughty List

There are some things that just do not fly in my world. One of those things was having a younger sibling. I mean here I am going along as an only child for what felt like ages. Then along comes a little sister. What a pain! I tried my best to be nice. I hung stockings with her and told her all about how Santa would fill them with sweets and treats.

See a sweet sisterly moment, until something happened. She annoyed me so much I started to tease her. I mean it was all in good fun. Of course she could take a joke, so she told our parents. Look it wasn't that bad!

I was only holding her present out of reach. Who hasn't done that to a younger sibling or two before? It's like an older sibling rite of passage or something. I didn't take getting tattled on too well, I know that I was a little extreme in my response, but I was young and emotional. Besides Santa can always use more elves right?
Sure now I may slightly regret it, but hey I am making it up be being a super awesome aunt to her kid. I must have a guilty concious.

Jungle Protector

The jungle has always been protected by her watchful care. Many poachers have attempted to claim one of the animals in her care as a prize, none have been successful. Her days always start the same by checking on all the animals. It is simple because they live on a small island. After all the animals are accounted for her watch begins.

She carefully looks out across the land and into the sea looking for any approaching ships. They try to sneak onto the island but are always found be her and her fellow protectors. On occasion the interlopers will flee and leave behind items. That is hoe she obtained the boots that now protect her feet so well.

She also listens carefully to the sounds of the jungle. Some poachers are wising up to the vigilance of the island protectors and are dropping off men in the dark of night with plans to return to retrieve them and their prizes. They don't make it past the protectors. When she spots a group of them she sends a signal to the other protectors.

To an outsider it may look like she is giving a signal to kill them to her fellow protectors, but that is not the case. You see they never kill. The just round up the poachers, bundle them together in a neat little package and leave them on the beach, or send them off in their boats. They have never seen the same poachers twice.

Always Thankful for Family

A while ago I took my niece Livy to her grandparents cottage, and while we were there I thought it would be a good idea to take some Thanksgiving themed pictures because I wasn't sure I would see her for the holiday. And because I am all about cheesiness I made sure we had matching outfits. I will not even begin to describe the amount of shapewear I had to wear underneath to get this dress to fit. What can I say the only matching outfits I could find were in the kids department. Once I was trussed up and dressed like a turkey we headed outside to take some pictures. I got the camera all set up on the tripod and angled as best I could. I then scooped Livy up in to my arms and told her to say cheese. It seems the little trickster didn't like my smile and helped "fix" it.

She is just a laugh a minute I tell ya. I thought it would be good for Livy to write down what she was thankful for on an easel I found in the shed. I handed her a piece of chalk and got to setting up the camera for another picture. When I first walked over after adjusting the camera I saw she was thankful for candy. I asked her if there was anything else she was thankful for, knowing there was only one answer I was looking for. She listed a few other things before landing on the one I wanted to see. It's nice to know where family ranks on the list!

A Pirate Story - Part One

              Long ago in a far away land there was a pirate who sailed the seas. She was the much feared Captain Morgana. One days she sailed her ship too close to an island in an archipelago and was captured by the king's Navy. These men had her caged and brought to the king. He then ordered the men to place her in a secret location in the castle. This is where the king kept his human prizes. He and the lords or his court would stare with their beady eyes at all the ladies kept there. Once a day a shaft of light would land on her cage and it allowed her to keep hope alive.

                        One day after the cage was cleaned the guard did not snap the lock tight on her cage. This was her chance to escape! She quietly followed the route she glimpsed the lords taking each time they visited the secret rooms. After some trial and error she was finally free of the castle. She allowed herself one moment to pause and breath deeply the sweet salty air of freedom before looking for a means to getting away from the castle.

           She stumbled upon a rowboat and set off rowing to her what she hoped was safety. She rowed all night and into the morning trying to put as much distance between her and the island of the awful king. As she tired she accidentally steered her rowboat into some rocks. As her rowboat started to sink she made her way onto the island she crashed ashore on.

             Knowing the beaches low ground would leave her vulnerable she started climbing the hills of the island attempting to seek higher ground. She finally made it to the top of one of the tall hills on the island. It provided a good view of the main village of the island.

            Afterwards she found a seemingly safe spot to sleep and drifted off feeling free for the first time in ages. To be continued...

Shades of Brown

Brown seems to be the prevailing color in my world at the moment. I am sure it will soon be replaced with white, but for the time being there is brown. The trees are naked! I also realize I have been wearing boots a lot lately. I think that is because in my non-digital life I live in boots this time of year. It's possible I may have a boot addiction. But that is for another day. I chose the red purse for a pop of color against my brown canvas, though it does come with a HUD so I could have gone all brown. I think the red was a good choice.

There are many things that I envy about my digital self, one of those is her ability to always look good in a hat. She doesn't have to deal with hat head when taking one off. Oh well, at least with this hair I could wear it with or without the hat. I however think the hat looks good and besides you not want that heat escaping. I think I may have yammered on enough this morning. I will free you from my thoughts by sharing the credits of this look with you.

Last Leaves of Fall

This autumn has been a bittersweet one for me. It is the last one that I will be living in New England for. Now I may be biased, but I think Autumn in New England is beyond compare. The leaves are ablaze with colors that defy description. At least that is how I feel about it. As with most things the beautiful foliage must come to an end.

So as I sit here on the ground, as the last of the leaves float down, I will comfort myself knowing that like the seasons life changes. So as I await the start of winter I will await the new adventure ahead, just without the need for a heavy jacket just yet.

Love Her?

Every night she steps out of her coffin, her lips still showing where they were once sewn shut. When she was alive she was a beautiful and trusting girl. That trust is why she ended up in her lonely grave. The one man she loved and trusted put her there. Just a few short days after they were wed he poisoned her and stitched her lips closed so that she could not tell her tragic tale even in death. Now at night she leaves her small plot looking for a man to love her even in death.

The Witch's Revenge

Last week I told you the story of the young man turning up for a dinner date and mysteriously dying. Well today I am going to reveal what happened to that young man. First you need to see where he lived, because I am sure you would never be as clueless as he was.

Now surly you can see that there is something going on at the house to the left. Here is is the middle of autumn and her grass and bushes are still a vibrant green. That is just not normal, but he went ahead and picked two of his neighbors prized roses. This is where his trouble began.
You see every evening his neighbor would go outside and sit upon her bench to gaze at her lovely roses. She always knew exactly how many were on each bush. Her roses were her pride and joy.

As she sat there she began her ritual of counting her roses. She was going along, counting ever bloom when she noticed that there were two missing, a white and a yellow one.

This displeased her greatly. She checked the ground to make sure they hadn't fallen off some how, but there was no sign on them anywhere. She knew she needed to get to the center of this issue. No one steals from her she thought. The old neighbor lady gingerly plucked a rose from the yellow bush and whispered to it. When she learned from the rose what had happened she decided to take matters into her own hands.

The old lady made sure no one was watching her as she cast a spell upon the rose. She has been know to enchant roses before, but that is a story for another day. You see the spell she cast upon the young man, well it did terrible things to him. To say the medical examiner was shocked by what he saw would be an understatement. The lesson here my darlings is never pick flowers from your neighbors yard, you never know who could be living there!

The Deadly Date

This poor man had no idea when he was in for when he agreed to be a guest at her home for dinner. Being a romantic young man he thought there would be a candle light dinner, he may have been mistaken. Since his momma taught him never to arrive empty handed he helped himself to some of the roses in his neighbors garden. She would never notice a couple missing blooms.

Boy was he wrong! Before he was even given the chance to present his date with the flowers he dropped dead right on the spot. Now anyone looking in on this scene may have assume the pretty lady who was his date may have done something malicious with the knife in her hand, but that wasn't so.

Just look at that face. Does that look like the face of a killer. Sure she happens to be holding a knife, but it is clean, and so is she. And to add to that there doesn't seem to be a single sign of a stab wound of any kind on the young man. Did he simply have a heart attack or was it something more mysterious and underhanded? Stay tuned to find out what really happened to this young man...

Last of the tomatoes

With the end of the summer came the end of home grown tomatoes. I enlisted the help of Livy to pick all the bright red tomatoes from the vines. She prefers cherry tomatoes because she can pop them in her mouth and bite them, sending tomato insides flying everywhere.

Livy of course decided that walking the short distance to the house. She was also reluctant to give up the tomato she picked. I think she wanted to keep it forever, which would have been really gross after a while. We hauled all the tomatoes into the kitchen and got to work.

We started making some tomato sauce and to help out I asked Livy to stir all the spices in a bowl. I mean I couldn't let her near the stove that would just be an accident waiting to happen. In the end I finished making quite a few jars of tomato sauce. Soon we will use it in some tasty dinners, maybe I will even make pizza from scratch as a treat.

           Hey look I am not jay-walking. Which is a good thing, because if I got ticketed it wouldn't turn out too well for me. I am playing with browns and whites today. I started with the jacket with it's leather accents and wanted to soften things a little with the skirt. And of course tie it all together with a cute little tote like bag. Oh yeah if you have not seen yet my blogging partner is back! She has also started making poses once again, which I am using in this post. Hopefully I can drag her into a post with me, on a day neither one of us is adulting!

Welcoming Autumn

It's finally starting to feel like Autumn in the Northeast. I know the cooler temperatures are here just for the day, but that doesn't mean the leaves aren't starting to change. Autumn is my favorite season and I am pretty sure I write that every year around this time. The only thing I could do with out is Pumpkin Spice flavored everything! I personally LOATHE pumpkin spice flavored things. Other than that I simply adore the sights and smells of Autumn in New England.
