Music Monday - Men in Black

     Maybe this would have been a better one for last week with Halloween, or maybe back in September for the failed area 51 invasion. Oh well poor planning on my part, but here it is.

Dieting Can Be Murder

“Your Honor my client pleads not guilty by reason of temporary insanity”, the public defender stated to the Judge. This was his big chance, a chance to make a name for himself by defending the accused in the trial of a lifetime. You see in this case the defendant is accused of viciously murdering her male companion. It all started on a regular Thursday evening, the accused, we will call her Phire, was busy preparing a salad for dinner. Something light and healthy, since they were both trying to get ready for a tropical beach vacation. In walked the deceased, we will call him Duncan*, chowing down on a burger. Now Phire had been sticking to their diet religiously, giving up all the things she loved, especially chocolate. Seeing Duncan eating that burger drove Phire into a rage, you could say the Phire became an inferno. Before she knew what was happening she drove the knife she was using to chop vegetables straight into Duncan’s heart.

After realizing what she has done Phire panicked, she needed to do something fast! She needed to get him out of the house and hidden.

Using all her might, Phire dragged the still warm body of Duncan out of the kitchen and into the shed in the back garden. She leaned him up in the corner of the small shed and hid his body beneath bags of fertilizer. She needed time to come up with a plan to get rid of the body...but that was not to be. So today she sits in the courtroom hoping that jury of her peers understand that dieting can be murder.

* Duncan was actually named because of a Dunkin Donuts cup I spotted in my office while trying to think of a name. This post was inspired by my being on a diet. For the record I have not murdered anyone because of it.

Music Monday - Total Eclipse of the Heart

      I am sure when I said something Halloween related this song is not what popped into your mind first. You were most likely  thinking something along the lines of Thriller, Monster Mash, or quite possibly something from Rocky Horror Picture Show, and all would have been great choices if I hadn't read something recently. You see I learned that the song was originally written to me in a musical Nosferatu, and was originally titled "Vampires in Love". So you see in a round about way it's a perfect Halloween song. Now I am sure you want to see the photo so here it is!



      I took a lot of elements from the video for this weeks photo/song combo. In fact this is the song that really got me started on this journey. I had been planning to pay homage to this song for a while and after watching the video way too many times the idea finally clicked. Now before I ramble on too much I will show you the "look" photo and be on my merry way.

Music Mondays - Walk Me Home

      This Monday I have a little P!nk for you. I picked the song because it has one of my favorite lines "I can't be alone with all that's on my mind", because lately that is how I have felt. Being in a bit of a bad place health wise can do that to you. However I am not here to talk about that. As with most of the posts I have done thus far I took some inspiration from the video. What can I say I am a sucker for a red dress.

      It's fun to see what I have that can work for a photo, and what I may need to shop for. I use almost any excuse to shop. Since there really wasn't a man in the video I went rogue here and tried to figure out what I gentleman would be wearing. I think he looks pretty spiffy. I am going to stop there for today. Next week will be a surprise since it is Halloween Week and I want something fitting.

Music Mondays - Play That Song

     This week we are popping back a more current song choice, Play That Song by Train. I have always been in awe of anyone who could play a musical instrument. I have zero talent in that department, but seem to be drawn to people who can. We all have our quirks right?



    This post makes me want to have one of my favorite people play some music for me. Hopefully they know who they are. That Couple

     Here in the States it was Memorial Day weekend this past weekend. You know the day we honor those who, have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom, by having parades and cook outs. It inspired me to do a little photo shoot. There is at least one couple in every neighborhood who are so into themselves as a couple that they wear matching outfits and basically ignore anyone else around them. They are usually a younger couple, but the age can range. Here is an example of such a couple.

      As you can see by the way they stare at one another they are soooo in love. They are even ignoring their own child who is sucking on a lemon and near meltdown mode. I myself have never been one of those couple, unless maybe a couples costume at Halloween counts? 

      At least they are a cute couple if I do say so myself. It doesn't hurt that the matchingness was yellow my favorite color. Onto the credits which are stupid long today.

The Journal Kiss

Today I attempted the scene in the rain from The Notebook. Again it's not a perfect remake. I would have been at it for a lot longer than I wanted to be if I tried that. So instead of a lake there is a lovely pond. But hey there is still rain! No quote for this one, just the epic kiss.

I'm just a girl

Today's trip down lovers lane brings us to Knotting Hill, and a little travel bookshop. If you haven't guessed and I am just referring to a place, but also the movie Knotting Hill. This time I am taking on the scene where Julia Roberts (Anna) confesses her feelings to Hugh Grant (Will).


Anna Scott: After all, I'm just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her.

An Airfield Goodbye

It's Valentine's Day this week so I was inspired to do my own creative license version of some famous romantic scenes from movies. Today I am starting with the scene in Casablanca where Rick and Ilsa part company. They had this exchange...


Rick Blaine: If that plane leaves the ground and you're not with him, you'll regret it. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon and for the rest of your life.
Ilsa: But what about us?
Rick Blaine: We'll always have Paris. We didn't have it before...we'd...we'd lost it until you came to Casablanca. We got it back last night.
Ilsa: When I said I would never leave you...
Rick Blaine: And you never will. But I've got a job to do too. Where I'm going, you can't follow. What I've got to do, you can't be any part of. Ilsa, I'm no good at being noble, but it doesn't take much to see that the problems of three little people don't amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world. Someday you'll understand that. Here's looking at you, kid.


Since the film is in black and white I chose to take the picture in black and white. I changed a few things for my photo, for instance my Rick is much younger than Humphrey Bogart. If you want to see the colored version you can check it out on flickr. I personally think it loses some of it's charm in color, but it does show what I am wearing much better. Alice's Fetish

Since her adventures in Wonderland Alice has had a thing for white rabbits. So she asks her lovers to done a certain mask. The mask varies from time to time, but the rabbit is always white.


Alice has go so far as to setting up her own Wonderland-esque tea party play area for herself and her companions. I'm not telling how these photos got into my hands and luckily the photographer either didn't share the more risque ones or kept them for them self.


This is as "naughty" as the picture I received got. I am have so many questions for Alice. Like what is up with the extraordinary amount of tea cups she has laying about out there. Does she have the men wear pocket watches and check the time randomly? I shall ponder on this while you read the credits.

The finale

While Eddie stood there freezing his marbles off a figure appeared all clothed in black. Eddie couldn't get a glimpse of her face as it was hidden from sight. This spirit took Eddie buy the collar and started him on his journey of discovery. If you hadn't guessed by now, she was about to show him is future.


Their first stop was to a party full of women. You would think this was Eddie's dream of a future but you would be mistaken. The women of this party were drinking, dancing and being full of cheer. Slowly it dawned on Eddie that all these women were his former conquests all gathered together. He asked the spirit why they were all gathered together and dancing merrily. Before he received an answer the party had faded away and they were standing in a graveyard.


The spirit spoke not a word but just pointed. Eddie followed to where she pointed and to his horror he saw his own headstone and freshly dug grave.

Eddie put two and two together and realized all those women were celebrating his death! Eddie fell to the specters feet and swore he would change his womanizing ways and be a better man.
When Eddie awoke the next morning he kept true to his word and started treating women vastly better. They were no longer object for his own amusement. Now the only heart to get broken is Eddie's, but maybe some day he will find his true love.

Part the Third

The following hour Eddie was awoken by a bright light creeping out from under his door. He arose from the bed to find yet another hottie awaiting him.


She was surrounded by a feast of delicious looking food. Suddenly Eddie realized he knew this story. So you are supposed to be the "Ghost of Christmas Present" I presume Eddie inquired. He even dis the obnoxious air quote thing when he said Ghost of Christmas Present, I told you he was an ass. "Yes I am. And you can drop that air quote nonsense." she replied. She grabbed Eddie by his cardigan their little tour began. 

They began with the first girl he had dated that year, and peeked in on one from every couple of months that year. Each one Eddie had broken their hearts, and each was cursing his name, some so colorfully that I darn not repeat it. Needless to say Eddie was not a popular person amoungst these woman. When the spirit figured he had enough she vanished into a cloud of shimmering dust leaving Eddie all alone in the middle of town.
