Music Mondays - Let It Snow

      Last week I missed out on my Music Monday post because of my non-digital life, but I am back this week and I think I will have one next week and that will be it for this little adventure. This week I chose Let it Snow for the song because it seems fitting. This weekend the weather outside was frightful, but it was rain and not snow.


      It's just out of frame, but he did bring some corn for popping, and the fire was oh so delightful. Of course when you are all curled up and cozy but the fire no one wants to say goodbye even as the fire slowly burns itself down to embers. And I better stop there before this is no longer rated G. I hope you are enjoying being cozy, even if that means being wrapped in a blanket with a good book and cup of tea!

Snowball The Christmas Kitty

      Up at the North Pole there are special elves who take care of all the animals that Santa brings to all the good girls and boys...with parental consent of course. The elves in this department love their job, I mean who wouldn't want to spend all day playing with fluffy animals?


      The kitty is actually color change, so I picked a white kitten because my "Christmas Kitty" in my non-digital life is white. We were going to name him Kringle, but the name he had was Peanut and it stuck. He is a very spoiled little boy, just like I am sure this little Christmas kitten will be. It's hard for the elves to say goodbye to their tiny charges, and because of the magic of the North Pole, Christmas animals never age, they stay kittens and puppies till they get to their new homes. Could you imagine an energetic lab running around the workshop full sized? It would take out elves left and right! Time for this elf to have a cookie and hot cocoa break while you real the credits.

A Tuneful Tuesday - White Christmas

      This week we are doing a Tuneful Tuesday, mostly because I was having a bad day yesterday and couldn't focus long enough to write my usual Music Monday post. It is the holiday season after all and may of us are busy with all the things that come with that. In a twist of fate, or my subconscious doing it's thing I did dream about snow last night...and how much I don't miss it. So aside from random dreams I an not actually dreaming of a white Christmas, no matter how many Christmas cards I write.


      Hey look I finally got a handle on using depth of field. I know I am late to the game, but this is the first time it actually looks right. I know it's a silly thing to be excited about, but I have been trying foe ages! Hopefully next week I will be back to the usual Monday postings and I have a few random ones for the coming weeks. The Gatherer

      Now just because Halloween is over doesn't mean witches magically disappear from the world. However this has nothing to do with witches, but more to do with those who are seen as witches. Just because a woman wears long skirts and is seen in the forest gathering mushrooms, apples, and other things the wood provide she is seen as a witch by the townspeople. In all reality she is just doing what all the women in her family have done. Using what nature provides to heal all sorts of aches and pains. 

      Now does she look like the type of person you would think of as a witch? Of course not! She just has been educated on the healing powers of herbs and such. I mean maybe you could call her a healer, but not all witches are healers and not all healers are witches. I am rambling, which means I should finish this post. I will say I am not a gatherer, especially of mushrooms because I think they are fairly gross when cooked.

Taking a Moment

      After enjoying the sights of the season it what time to engage the my other senses. The smell of crisp leaves mingled with the spiciness of my cider as a gentle breeze rustles the leave that still clung to the trees. I picked up my warm mug of cider and relished the tart taste of apple mixed with the spices of the season. The warmth of the mug radiated up through may hands as the warm liquid slide down my throat, all of me warming with that one magical elixir.

      Then I woke, realized I lived in the south and it was still hot, and everything was still green. At least I can get some hot cider and pretend.

      That's right I have been away for a bit and here I am coming in hot. What can I say it looks like Dark Phire is in charge today. o would you like to play a game? Head I win, tails you lose...your head. Now now no need to be shy, I will even let you pick the coin.

Thoughtful Spot

      I tried to think of a much better title, but as usual by brain is fried. I have just finished (mostly) with moving so things are in a state of disarray. I will quite with the whining because I look to pretty, in my opinion, to be whining. Take a look for yourself...

Love Her?

Every night she steps out of her coffin, her lips still showing where they were once sewn shut. When she was alive she was a beautiful and trusting girl. That trust is why she ended up in her lonely grave. The one man she loved and trusted put her there. Just a few short days after they were wed he poisoned her and stitched her lips closed so that she could not tell her tragic tale even in death. Now at night she leaves her small plot looking for a man to love her even in death.

The Witch's Revenge

Last week I told you the story of the young man turning up for a dinner date and mysteriously dying. Well today I am going to reveal what happened to that young man. First you need to see where he lived, because I am sure you would never be as clueless as he was.

Now surly you can see that there is something going on at the house to the left. Here is is the middle of autumn and her grass and bushes are still a vibrant green. That is just not normal, but he went ahead and picked two of his neighbors prized roses. This is where his trouble began.
You see every evening his neighbor would go outside and sit upon her bench to gaze at her lovely roses. She always knew exactly how many were on each bush. Her roses were her pride and joy.

As she sat there she began her ritual of counting her roses. She was going along, counting ever bloom when she noticed that there were two missing, a white and a yellow one.

This displeased her greatly. She checked the ground to make sure they hadn't fallen off some how, but there was no sign on them anywhere. She knew she needed to get to the center of this issue. No one steals from her she thought. The old neighbor lady gingerly plucked a rose from the yellow bush and whispered to it. When she learned from the rose what had happened she decided to take matters into her own hands.

The old lady made sure no one was watching her as she cast a spell upon the rose. She has been know to enchant roses before, but that is a story for another day. You see the spell she cast upon the young man, well it did terrible things to him. To say the medical examiner was shocked by what he saw would be an understatement. The lesson here my darlings is never pick flowers from your neighbors yard, you never know who could be living there!

Girl with the Red Rose

I thought I would title it like a classic painting, or a popular novel depending on how you read it. I admit I am desperate for some warm sunny weather and have been trying to get all the virtual sunshine I can. I hit up some gardens last week and may have made off with a rose...shh don't tell anyone. I bought this cute dress at The Chapter Four and it has that perfect spring feel to it, short enough to feel the warm air on your legs, but with long sleeves to keep a bit of the chill out. Though really if you tossed on some leggings you would be set for the winter too. I am babbling so I will leave you with the credits.

Cinderella's Slippers

Did you ever covet a pair of your moms shoes as a child? I know I did. My mom had they great boots that I wanted to wear so badly. They were high heeled black knee length suede boots with embroidered flowers on them. To my youthful eyes they were a work of art. If course I wasn't allowed to wear them because they had high heels. As fate would have it by the time I was old enough to ear them my feet were too big! This got me thinking. Cinderella and the Prince had to have kids right? Would they have a daughter and would she try to "borrow" her mom's famous shoes?

Of course she would! She would carefully sneak out of the castle and head out to meet up with her royal besties. Who's jaw wouldn't drop seeing somewhere wearing THE glass slippers?

Hopefully she won't be in a rush and misplace one like her mother.

Must Have Coffee!

My morning routine in fairly simple, it follows three steps once I am out of bed. Step one...stumble into the kitchen in the coziest jammies on hand. Or the mans shirt, either one works.
Step two...stare at the coffee waiting for it to magically fill, then realize I need to push the brew button.
Step three...wandering into the living room, set the coffee down till it is no longer hot enough to melt the hardest of metals.
Obviously others have been awake before me since there is hot chocolate already on the table. There is not nearly enough caffeine in hot chocolate to get me moving in the morning! You have to love the holidays, but only because I get to sleep in for a little bit longer.

Viktoria the good witch

Just because Halloween is over it doesn't mean that the witches just disappear for another year. No, they just go about their usual business.
This is Viktoria and she is a good witch. She is the kind that brews potions to help the people of the village she lives near. No one calls her a witch to her face of course, but they all know what she is. She doesn't mind that they do, it's what she is and she is proud of that.
You won't see newts eyes or anything like that on her shelves. Don't get me wrong she does have some of the icky ingredients but she keeps those hidden away in the cupboard. No one likes to see those icky things when they come calling for a potion or charm.
I am not certain how old Viktoria is exactly, in fact no one does. It feels like she has been there forever, but she sure doesn't look all old and withered. Maybe it has something to do with the soup she eats on a daily basis?
