Making Room For Something New

      It's time for THE PURGE! I don't mean the movies (which I have never seen), but an inventory one. It's time to make room for all the new things in life and let some of the old go. Yes that is totally a metaphor for life. It seems 2020 is the year of deep thoughts for me. Fret not, for I am sure it won't last long. In fact I know it won't! 

      I have been on a big cleaning and sorting and organizing binge lately. Clearing away the old and the clutter helps me think clearer in both worlds. Of course cleaning up my SL inventory is way easier, I can box things up and not have to worry about where to store it, there is no hauling stuff to the trash bins, or donation centers. Just a few clicks of a button and poof all sorted. Oh well at the end of the day life moves on and we should be willing to as well. Enough of my waxing philosophical I will see you again soon, with something a little less deep.

Music Mondays - Let It Snow

      Last week I missed out on my Music Monday post because of my non-digital life, but I am back this week and I think I will have one next week and that will be it for this little adventure. This week I chose Let it Snow for the song because it seems fitting. This weekend the weather outside was frightful, but it was rain and not snow.


      It's just out of frame, but he did bring some corn for popping, and the fire was oh so delightful. Of course when you are all curled up and cozy but the fire no one wants to say goodbye even as the fire slowly burns itself down to embers. And I better stop there before this is no longer rated G. I hope you are enjoying being cozy, even if that means being wrapped in a blanket with a good book and cup of tea!

Awkward Holiday Card Season

      It's one of my favorite things of the holiday season, the family photo holiday cards. There are some that are just a collage of things the family did in the year, but then there are the gems. You know the kind, the posed happy family ones in matching outfits. I love those so very much for their awesome awkwardness. You always end up having to choose the least worst, because they are never actually good. Here is my own version of said family card.


      I don't do photo holiday cards personally because I am terribly at taking pictures when we are doing something, and everyone in the house hates how they look in pictures. I instead send out two different kinds of holiday cards, a "normal" one for family, and a crazy fun one for friends. That is all for now. Sugar Plum Guardian

      Every year around this time I read The Nutcracker, I have read it since I was younger and got it as a gift from my parents. I still read it to the girl child even though she has been able to read for quite some time now. With the new Nutcracker move that has come out it got me thinking. Well also the outfit from Schadenfreude got me thinking too. I was going to do the much expected ballet type photos, but that seemed to obvious so I came up with these.

    

  I figured the realm where the Sugar Plum fairy lives would have to be guarded some how. Sure it could be guarded by more Nutcrackers, but I think a staff wielding ballerina fairy is cooler. There she is guarding the portal that will lead to the lands of the Sugar Plum Fairy. I am pretty sure her staff can blind you with sprinkles, jimmies, shots, it whatever they are called where you call home.

   
      I wouldn't want to mess with her so make sure before you try entering the lands of the Sugar Plum fairy you have a proper invitation, or else you may be seeing rainbows for the rest of your mortal life.

Wrapping it up

      The last workshop I visited was the wrapping on and as this is my last post on the visit to the North Pole, I figured it was fitting. During this time of year there is a whole hurry up and wait thing happening. As you may be able to guess the toy making and such goes on year round. There are some things that get asked for year after year so these are some of the things that get built. Trains, bikes and the like are constantly in production as well as those toys that may take longer to make. Because so many are made the elves wrap then and store them in facilities year round. They have some sort of organizational set up that was beyond my understanding, but it was impressive. However some gifts need to be made late in the game so the wrapping elves are always on their toes, not literally of course.

      As you can see here this elf has been busy wrapping quite a few of those last minute gifts. I got to see what they were, but I am sworn to secrecy. Lets just say I know some people who will be very happy come Christmas morning. Just a short time later she was resting, waiting for the next flood of gifts to come her way.

      This is the wait part of that whole hurry up and wait thing I talked about earlier. I am sure she is still rushed off her feet wrapping more gifts for good boys and girls. Oh and if you were wondering why I only have photos of some female elves it's because they were more willing to allow me to take their photo. What's a gal to do?

Toys for each girl and boy

      While I was at the North Pole I learned something. Now I wasn't given specifics, but it appears that Santa is the biggest importer in the world. He told me he had several companies throughout the world to get the goods he needs for making every Christmas gift. It seems these businesses are "run" by elves, but they look human as to not arouse suspicion. I asked how this was possible and was again given the "Christmas Magic" excuse. It seems that they even import all natural fabrics and dyes for some of the stuffed animals. I was allowed into the toymaking training workshop. You see before the elves are allowed to move on to more complicated toys they need to master the basics, stuffed animals and wooden toys.

      As you can see the wooden toys come in a variety of ways, though it looks like someone snuck in a non-wooden toy into the workshop. Every toys gets played with for a little bit just to make sure they will hold up. The stuffed animals seem to get extra snuggles from this elf. The elves in the toy workshops all end up with tons of boxes laying around because after the toys are tested they are sent to the gift wrapping workshop before making their way into Santa's magic bag. We will see that workshop tomorrow!

Decorations Galore

      Today's adventures bring us to the Decorations Workshop. Here the elves work on creating all the decorations needed to make the season bright. The sheer amount of tinsel in this workshop was terrifying, mostly because I know what my cats would do with it, but that is a whole other story for another day.

      As you can see there are lights and ornaments galore in here, along with some other decorations for a persons home. You see there are some houses that Santa spends a little extra time in because he decorates it for the occupants. I have no idea how he finds the time to do this on top of all the presents he delivers. I asked but he just said it was " Santa Magic". I have a feeling there is more to it than that, but I wasn't about to argue, I did not what to end up on the naughty list!

      I did learn one thing while I was in this workshop, whenever an ornament is set to head off to a family an elf whispers a wish for them into it. Sometimes it's a little something, like having the merriest Christmas, but other times it can be a greater wish. Often this wish comes true, I am not sure if it is elf magic, Santa magic or what, but it works whatever it is. I will see you tomorrow when we visit the Wrapping Workshop.

The Good Witch

      It appears I enjoy using Pop Culture references for my witches and the Good Witch is no exception. If you haven't guessed yet I am talking about Glinda the Good Witch from the Wizard of Oz movie. You know the old school one with Judy Garland as Dorthy? As with all my witches I changed some things here and there.



      As you can see I put aside my dislike for pink to bring you a pretty pink Good Witch. I also skipped on the bubble traveling, one wrong move of my wand and that sucker would pop, well like a bubble, and I don't feel like hurtling to the ground!



      I am happy it gave me a chance to wear my frog tiara. It may seem weird to some, but in my non-digital life I collect frogs, no living ones though, they would not survive the cats. That is all for today, as you can probably guess I saved the Wicked Witch for you for tomorrow, after all it will be Halloween.

Lifting little weight

Okay so maybe the weight isn't being lifted just held up. It still counts as leg work though right? We are hanging out in the kitty corner of doom! Just like in any house with little kids the soft squishy things that Livy is allowed to play with are on the bottom shelf. She is a well behaved little thing, but sometime even the best behaved can be curious little creatures. Livy is like her Auntie Phire, she adores kitties. I may have had some fun playing the Little Llama gacha machine at The Gacha Garden. You should go forth and get your kitty on too.

To the farmstand

Where I live late May through early October are the best months. That is because I can go to one of the many farms and Farmer's Markets in the area and get fresh fruits and veggies. At some of the local places you can even go pick your own. My favorite to go and pick are apples, but I have to wait a couple more months for that. If fact just this weekend I picked up some fresh blueberries and turned those into blueberry muffins this morning. Later this weekend I will hit the farm down the street again to get some veggies for a salad. Unfortunately it is only in Second Life that I can bike to a farm stand to pick up fresh milk, veggies and bread. All the places near me are either too far away or require traveling on very busy dangerous streets.

It's time to head home with my bounty and see what I can cook up with the fresh goodies.

Tea Time

It's tea time! I have a confession to make. I collect teacups in SL. I know it seems a bit strange, but I do. I have a soft spot for teacups. So it's not surprising that when The Arcade rolls around and there are teacups to be had I seek them out.

There are times where I attempt to get all the pieces of a tea set.

I am also a sucker for tulips. Combine some tulips with a cute bunny and I am all over that cuteness!
And what is a tea party with out dressing up all prettily? I think I shall call these two Cinnamon and Sugar based on what we are wearing. Cinnamon obviously being the one in red, because it more cinnamony than that minty one.

Happy Mondays my dears. Today I shall call Love Day Monday, mostly because my shirt says love. I paired it with new necklaces that say "can u not" and "stop pls" because in my head put together with the shirt is all reads "Can you not stop loving me". I know it's a stretch but it's the way my head works. Here is a closer look at all the love I got going on.
I tried something new with my pictures today. Hopefully the aren't too crazy and you can see all the little things a bit better. Hope Monday is as good as a Monday can be!

The Things I Do

Lola may be the best friend and SL sister a girl could have but she is also an evil task master. You see there are no free rides in the world of Arcade. Oh no I have to work for the leftovers that Lola throws my way. In fact she left me a whole list of chores to do! First I had to tackle the kitchen floor.

Sweeping the kitchen floor isn't too bad since she doesn't actually cook. I think it is mostly cookie crumbs on the floor from her kiddo. However the next task on the list I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy. She had me clean the bathroom! And this after said kiddo decided to flush a whole bunch of stuff down it. I wonder if they ever replaced the cell phone that took a swim...

At least I had some music to listen to so it wasn't all bad. By the time I finished the list I was wiped out!

Does anyone else have to suffer through tasks like this to get extras from their family?
