Fixing a Koala Nightmare

Every once in a while I take my adorable niece Livy to her grandparents cabin for a get away. It's a little cabin full of older furnishing and stuff my parents felt the need to keep. In one of the bedrooms sit a koala bear that I got as a graduation gift ages ago. Someone saw my cute bear and thought it would be funny to tell Livy about drop bears! Now she is terrified of the sweet bear sitting upon the chair. I think she envisions this when she looks at my poor bear.

Tonight when she was all ready for bed she covered her eyes trying to hide from the koala.

Since she was so terrified I decided to make up a little story to help her fall asleep and maybe forget about the whole drop bear thing...

Once upon a time there was a smart koala named Klaude. He lived in a house very similar to this one. He was a sneaky little koala and like to sneak out of bed at night and head to the kitchen to look for sweet treats.

After sneaking a treat he would head outside to find his friend Botti the black bear.

Botti was an avid painter so he would always talking to Klaude about colors and shapes, but inevitably their conversations always devolved into talk of food. This is usually the point where Klaude bid a fond farewell to his friend and headed back indoors. Klaude would climb up into his favorite chair and drift off to sleep, just like you should be. Maybe my own Klaude will have some adventures tonight protecting you from nightmares.  The End
With the story told Livy peacefully drifted off to sleep and there were no nightmares had that night.

Tea Time

It's tea time! I have a confession to make. I collect teacups in SL. I know it seems a bit strange, but I do. I have a soft spot for teacups. So it's not surprising that when The Arcade rolls around and there are teacups to be had I seek them out.

There are times where I attempt to get all the pieces of a tea set.

I am also a sucker for tulips. Combine some tulips with a cute bunny and I am all over that cuteness!
And what is a tea party with out dressing up all prettily? I think I shall call these two Cinnamon and Sugar based on what we are wearing. Cinnamon obviously being the one in red, because it more cinnamony than that minty one.

Groomora*

I have a strange little mind. I mean I could have gone all mystical dryad with this skin, but no, that would be expected instead I introduce you to Groomora. Who is Groomora you may ask, why she is the love child of Groot and Gamora. Come on you know those Guardians of the Galaxy had to hook up in space. Sure the obvious match would have been Star Lord and Gamora, but with the greenish bark-like skin you could totally understand where my head was going.

Unlike Groot who only needed his pot once, Groomora needs to sleep in her pot to receive all the nutrients she needs. Sure it sucks, but hey she gets by. For the first part of her life she was raised in a special pod, in theory to keep her safe, but it was boring.

Could you imagine having nothing to do all day but look at flowers and climb trees, completely oblivious to the action your parents are seeing outside your safe little pod? No I don't mean the kind of action that made her! Poor girl. Hopefully one day she will get out there and be totally kick ass like her mom...and dad too.

Mary Poppins I am not!

Mary Poppins was a lying little dear,or maybe it was because she the little darlings she watched were older, either way being a nanny is a thankless job.

I mean here I am taking care of this couple's most valuable thing and what am I doing, waiting for a bottle to warm while eyeing the pasteries. Oh but I can't have any because those are for company, like that actually eat it. They all take a slice and push it around their plates wasting the delicate treats. But that is not the point. Mary Poppins made being a nanny seem all fun and games. The only time I have fun is when I can get outside for a walk in the park.

Listen if you see a man named Bert who is a one man band, chimney sweep and sidewalk chalk artist could you send him my way? I don't mind if he has a doddering old uncle who laughs himself to the ceiling. I could just use a trip into a magical land where penguins serve me tea and I can sit down without someone needing their nappy changed.

Opening Pandora's Box

I have opened Pandora's box, only instead of it being filled with all the evils of the world, these boxes are filled with memories. Each box contains it's own set of sentimental items. Maybe I did open Pandora's box with all these reminders of you.

That book you said reminded you of us, those love letters you sent and that one single red rose given before you knew my true favorite flower. All these things stirring up memories and here I am with only a blazing fire to keep me warm.

Are these my ghosts of Christmas or times past? Maybe they are reminders of the love we continue to have for one another? Maybe I am just a sentimental old fool. Who knows....

Locked Away

Once there was a beautiful young girl. Now this girl happened to be a princess, however that fact was concealed from her for her entire life. In fact she thought herself to be the daughter of a wealthy merchant and his wife. The princess was sent to live with them for her own protection, as an evil witch had vowed to take her away as a wee babe.
The merchant and his wife raised her as if she were their own, though they were very strict. She was never allowed to leave the house without one of them or another trusted household member. Of course as she got older, as many young people do, she started to sneak away and visit the village.


This of course frightened the merchant and his wife to no end. At their wits end they did the only thing they could think of. They had a tower built and locked her away. They had heard about similar things happening to a princess in another land and figured if it was good for her it was good for them.

The merchant and his wife felt terrible about locking their beloved adoptive daughter away in the tower, but it was all they could think to do to protect her from herself.

Quiet Night In

I don't know what the weather is like where you live, but where I am we are about to get another snow storm. What better way to prepare for a cold night in than with warm clothes, a cup of hot chocolate and some cookies?
You can't forget having a good book or two to read as well.
I think I need to rethink how I get into bed. Though really who needs covers when you are all cozy in a big sweater, jmmie pants and teddy bear slippers?

Too cold my the animals

The weather outside is bitter cold and snowy so all the animals came inside, well almost all of them.
The deer and kitty both decided to warm themselves by the fire. However Grumpy the kitty is not really digging on the deer.
I think he is just jealous because he may have gotten a little singed from the candles in the past which is why they are no longer lit.

I needed a little me time so I dashed outside. Okay I ran out the door because I couldn't stand the noise of the kitty/deer battle. I ran around the little pond, the penguins were enjoying the cold. However someone jumped on me for a ride back in the house...
Guess this bunny isn't a fan of the cold either, now to run back inside before I turn into a Phire popcicle!

Must Have Coffee!

My morning routine in fairly simple, it follows three steps once I am out of bed. Step one...stumble into the kitchen in the coziest jammies on hand. Or the mans shirt, either one works.
Step two...stare at the coffee waiting for it to magically fill, then realize I need to push the brew button.
Step three...wandering into the living room, set the coffee down till it is no longer hot enough to melt the hardest of metals.
Obviously others have been awake before me since there is hot chocolate already on the table. There is not nearly enough caffeine in hot chocolate to get me moving in the morning! You have to love the holidays, but only because I get to sleep in for a little bit longer.
