Small Town Girl

      When the latest boots from lassitude & ennui were released at We <3 Roleplay I had ideas of pairing it with other items from there. However others had the same idea so being the person that I am I went back to the drawing board. As life has it's way of making things hard for me by the time I had the outfit all picked out my hands decided that was time to start acting up. Yay auto-immune nonsense. Luckily my Sin came to my rescue and took photos for me. He's better at it than me anyway so it was really a nice silver lining.

      You may see more photos taken by him on the blog here and there as my hands go through fits of being giant balls of ache, but I will always tell you when he did the work. I won't take credit for something someone else has done.

Music Mondays - Love Fool

      Back to the Nineties we go this week, with Love Fool by The Cardigans. I wish I could remember why I chose this song, other than it coming up on a playlist on Pandora. Either way I pulled different elements from the music video for today's photos.


      I wish I had something great to say today, but sadly my brain isn't fully functioning yet. Lack of caffeine and all. I do have a closer photo of my outfit to share so have a peep.

Music Mondays - Hate Myself For Loving You

Growing up I was a big fan of Joan Jett. In fact I used to drive my older sisters crazy but singing "I Love Rock & Roll" all the time. For the record I was four and it was their fault for intoducing me to her. So that being said it should come as no surprise that I have at least one Joan Jett song of my Music Mondays rotation.

Just in case you are wondering I did not pick this song thinking about someone specific. I think there is at least one time in our lives we regreted the feelings we had for someone. I was feeding off of that place. Since this photo is on the dark side, lighting wise I mean, I decided to take another shot to show you what I am wearing a little better. This is the point in this whole project that I realized it might be a good idea.

I don't look nearly as badass and brooding when the lights are turned back on.

Music Mondays - Bed of Roses

      I had hoped to start this last Monday, but then Mother Nature decided to have a say in where I was. I guess that is the price you have to pay to live where the sun shines and the ocean is close. For the past few months I have been working on taking pictures inspired by songs and their music videos. For my first post I have gone with Bed of Roses by Bon Jovi.

      As you can see he is laying me down in a bed of roses. A little on the nose sure, but it was fun to create a scene based on lyrics. His look is loosely based on the look of lead singer of Bon Jovi in the music video. If you have a song suggestion feel free to let me know. I do love a challenge!

The Cursed one of Bayounimba

      There once was a young woman who lived in Bayounimba who was haunted by terrible memories of a time long past. These memories plagued her greatly and not a day went by where she was not reduced to tears.



      As time wore on she became desperate for a solution, for a day without pain, so she turned to the one person she thought may be able to do something, the Witch Doctor. She begged him to rid her of these memories. He warned her that the price for such a thing was high and it could not be undone. Being desperate as she was she readily agreed to whatever the price may be. It was this hasty action that would change her life forever...

      The following morning she awoke without a care in the world, she had no memory of the events in her past, in fact she had no memories at all, save for those of the Witch Doctor. She desperately tried to remember who she was, what she was doing, but nothing came to her. She now wanders the lands of Bayounimba forgetting the names of all those she happens to meet. She now spends her time hunting down the Witch Doctor, waiting for revenge to be hers.



      One day the Cursed One will get her revenge, till then she watches and hopes no one else has the same fate befall them.

Let the craziness begin!

      The holiday season is kicking in and that means I am on my computer more often than not. I mean between looking up recipes and ordering all the things online it's amazing I can actually do other things. I am overly organized and need all my little ducks marching in line or I lose it. I have gone rage shopping over a gingerbread house, my family still feels guilty about that.

      Shhh don't tell anyone but that screen I am staring at was actually a screenshot of what I was actually googling the day I took this picture. Sadly I can't remember what I was looking for a recipe for. Also my desk is way more cluttered than my virtual desk. Oh well, now to get to the grocery store to throw down over stuffing and the like. On the plus side I can always buy more wine at the grocery store.

      If you look carefully you can see that wee pumpkin says coming soon. No it's not some sort of baby announcement, the bridge to the baby factory had been burnt to the ground. No it's just my cheeky way of saying the holiday pounds will be showing up soon. I can control myself around candy and cookies, but show me some turkey and gravy and all the yummy foods on hand for Thanksgiving and Christmas and all bets are off. Last year I made this weird stuffing/mashed potato pancake thing with cranberry sauce on top with the leftovers and it was amazing! Also this restaurant near us makes a stuffing waffle with turkey and gravy and I think mashed potatoes on top. It may sound gross but it was amazing. My mouth is watering just thinking about the foods. For now I will content myself with a peppermint mocha and some holiday movies. Hey don't judge me!

The Accused

      Since it's less than a week till Halloween I figured it was time to start this year's themed posts. This year I am going to be styling different witches, with creative license as usual. To start it all off I am touching on the accused witch of the Salem era. Now a days if you accused your neighbor of being a witch you would be ignored for the most part. Unfortunately this is not the same for the women in Salem who were accused of witchcraft.



      These accused woman were hung due to mass hysteria, of course they were all posthumously exonerated, but that doesn't erase the fact that they lost their lives. In fact many men, women and children were all accused of witchcraft. Sorry this isn't a history lesson and I will stop. I promise the other witches are all as deep as this one, but I had to start somewhere.

One of my favorite places

There is a place near me in my non-digital life that I love to visit. You get the best of old historic sites mixed with modern shops and restaurants. Whenever I visit, which is as often as possible, I am always discovering new hidden treasures. Of course there are a few must visits, like a bar owned by an old hippy that sells pirates grog. It tastes like a boozy apple pie, I may have indulged a little too much one time and asked a guy if I could touch his snake. It sounds dirtier than it was, he had his pet boa constrictor around his neck. I am rambling here I am sorry. Whenever I visit it is always full of laughs.


And yes in my non digital life in the south I am still just as pale as my digital life picture shows. It takes hard work to stay looking like Casper the Friendly Ghost!

Beachy Dreams

      I swear I am not always napping in my pictures lately. I may look asleep, but actually I am deep in thought. I am probably thinking that it is going to start storming any minute now. That is the reality of where I live. Summer means afternoon thunderstorms on a daily basis. Sure there are days that are all day sun, but those are few and far between right now. At least it's always sunny in my digital life if I want it to be. As a matter of fact as I write this post I can hear the occasional rumble of thunder (in between songs mostly) hopefully the power won't blip like it did the other day.  You didn't come here to listen to me whine about the weather.

A special pet

We have all heard that after a while an pet parent and they non-human child will start to look alike. Well a certain someone has a pet of mythical proportions and let me tell you she and Nyssa are looking more and more alike each day.



Luckily she doesn't have talons or wings like Nyssa, but that just may be coming sooner rather than later. Just look at the way she has tattooed her face. She is one devoted pet parent!


At least with a pet phoenix she never really has to worry about it dying. I am fairly certain that beautiful creature will outlive us both.

Tattoos and Me

Some things you may not know about the non-digital me is that my hair is currently red and I have two Celtic inspired tattoos on my body. Nope I don't have pictures, it's hard to take a picture of your own shoulder. I don't have nearly as many tattoos as seen here, not does my hair ever look this fantastic.


The swirl  bit you see in the middle of my chest there is what I have tattooed on my wrist, though it's a little changed to be more meaningful to me, which isn't that what a tattoo should be, meaningful to the wearer I mean? If you click on the picture you can see better, but there is a lot of Celtic knotwork going on here too. That is what I have on my shoulder, though my knots are in the shape of a star. What can I say I have a thing for stars. Please forgive my pictures if they are a little on the blurrier side of things. I am still getting used to the new computer and it's graphics. Shopping Trip

I am one of those people who likes to get there holiday shopping over with before the real craziness of the season hits. My theory is if I get it done sooner then I can relax more en enjoy the parties and everything the holidays bring. I will however still shop for those last few things that I forgot or that I can't get online. Today I did splurge and get myself a few lovlies. However I will be wrapping them and putting them under the tree. Yes, I give myself presents, I deserve them gosh darn it! Now I am switching into Thanksgiving prep mode. The Burdy Sisters - Raven

Finally we come to Raven, the last of the Burdy triplets, and maybe the most...interesting? You see Raven had obsession with death and dead things. She would even sneak out at night to meet with her unkindness, her flock of ravens.

No one was ever certain whether she had trained the raven to come to her or if they just naturally saw her as their queen of some sort. It did disturb the other people living on the island whenever they would see the ravens circling here. They also feared the ravens themselves for it seemed that anyone who witnessed Raven in the evenings would be found dead within a week. No one believed this to be a mere coincidence.


Due to the deaths that surrounded seeing Raven at night many of the island dwellers made sure to be locked up tight in their homes before the dark of night descended. No one wanted to risk being the next one to be at the wrong end of the Raven Curse.

The Burdy Sisters - Hawk

Today we take a look at Hawk Burdy. She is the fiercest of the triplets. She took on the role of protector at an early age and may have taken it a bit far. Over the years Hawk turned into an almost primal huntress. Her attitude toward strangers fueled the rumors about the strange family on the island.

Hawk also seemed to have an inherent interest in hunting. She kept her family well fed on that island. While her sisters dressed in more traditional clothing Hawk was a little, hmmm, less formal? She felt her attire gave her the freedom to move quickly and easily when hunting her prey.

The Burdy Sisters - Dove

Some time ago on a small island a mother gave birth to three baby girls. As they grew she notices something peculiar about her girls, they were growing feathers! It would appear it was a rare genetic disorder, but their mother swore it was a curse put upon her and she never had anymore children. Each of her daughters grew and aged as any normal girl would, only they had feathers. Today I will introduce you to young woman whom they call Dove.



Dove was given the name due to her dove colored feathers. She was very much like her namesake in a way. You see Dove was very peaceful and loving. Mary Poppins I am not!

Mary Poppins was a lying little dear,or maybe it was because she the little darlings she watched were older, either way being a nanny is a thankless job.

I mean here I am taking care of this couple's most valuable thing and what am I doing, waiting for a bottle to warm while eyeing the pasteries. Oh but I can't have any because those are for company, like that actually eat it. They all take a slice and push it around their plates wasting the delicate treats. But that is not the point. Mary Poppins made being a nanny seem all fun and games. The only time I have fun is when I can get outside for a walk in the park.

Listen if you see a man named Bert who is a one man band, chimney sweep and sidewalk chalk artist could you send him my way? I don't mind if he has a doddering old uncle who laughs himself to the ceiling. I could just use a trip into a magical land where penguins serve me tea and I can sit down without someone needing their nappy changed.

Girl with the Red Rose

I thought I would title it like a classic painting, or a popular novel depending on how you read it. I admit I am desperate for some warm sunny weather and have been trying to get all the virtual sunshine I can. I hit up some gardens last week and may have made off with a rose...shh don't tell anyone. I bought this cute dress at The Chapter Four and it has that perfect spring feel to it, short enough to feel the warm air on your legs, but with long sleeves to keep a bit of the chill out. Though really if you tossed on some leggings you would be set for the winter too. I am babbling so I will leave you with the credits.

In a Wasteland

When living in a wasteland like this is is best to try and blend in. It may also be a good idea to forgo heels and jewelry too, but a girl need accessories even in dark times. I figured with the desert-like living earth tones would be my best bet. I think I may need to work on my camoflage techniques.

Looks like it is going to rain. It's a good thing I have an umbrella that matches my coat. I would hate to get drenched walking to dinner. I mean when you take all that time to do your hair and make sure you are looking like a dream it would be awful to let the rain ruin it.

Luckily I made it here in one dry piece. Maybe next time I will check the weather before dressing, my poor toes are frozen. Nothing a nice hot drink won't fix though.
