Music Mondays - Bed of Roses

      I had hoped to start this last Monday, but then Mother Nature decided to have a say in where I was. I guess that is the price you have to pay to live where the sun shines and the ocean is close. For the past few months I have been working on taking pictures inspired by songs and their music videos. For my first post I have gone with Bed of Roses by Bon Jovi.

      As you can see he is laying me down in a bed of roses. A little on the nose sure, but it was fun to create a scene based on lyrics. His look is loosely based on the look of lead singer of Bon Jovi in the music video. If you have a song suggestion feel free to let me know. I do love a challenge!

Wine Tasting

      One of the activities I enjoy in my non-digital life is to visit vineyards and wineries. In fact there is one just a few miles from my new house so you know where I will be on the weekends, It doesn't hurt that there is a distillery right down the street either! But that is not what I am about today. You see not all vineyards and wineries are the same. At some there are coolers where you can purchase nibbles, as seen in the picture below, at others these are not available. I personally enjoy the ones were I can pick up some nibbles to go with a lovely glass on whatever wine strikes my fancy.


      Some of the vineyards I have visited do have little outdoor seating areas where you and your friend(s) can go relax in the the sun while sipping away and chatting about whatever strikes you fancy. Now that I will be living closer to friends I hope to do this sort of thing more often, but don't worry I will still be here to write about some nonsense or another.

Toys for each girl and boy

      While I was at the North Pole I learned something. Now I wasn't given specifics, but it appears that Santa is the biggest importer in the world. He told me he had several companies throughout the world to get the goods he needs for making every Christmas gift. It seems these businesses are "run" by elves, but they look human as to not arouse suspicion. I asked how this was possible and was again given the "Christmas Magic" excuse. It seems that they even import all natural fabrics and dyes for some of the stuffed animals. I was allowed into the toymaking training workshop. You see before the elves are allowed to move on to more complicated toys they need to master the basics, stuffed animals and wooden toys.

      As you can see the wooden toys come in a variety of ways, though it looks like someone snuck in a non-wooden toy into the workshop. Every toys gets played with for a little bit just to make sure they will hold up. The stuffed animals seem to get extra snuggles from this elf. The elves in the toy workshops all end up with tons of boxes laying around because after the toys are tested they are sent to the gift wrapping workshop before making their way into Santa's magic bag. We will see that workshop tomorrow!

The Burdy Sisters - Hawk

Today we take a look at Hawk Burdy. She is the fiercest of the triplets. She took on the role of protector at an early age and may have taken it a bit far. Over the years Hawk turned into an almost primal huntress. Her attitude toward strangers fueled the rumors about the strange family on the island.

Hawk also seemed to have an inherent interest in hunting. She kept her family well fed on that island. While her sisters dressed in more traditional clothing Hawk was a little, hmmm, less formal? She felt her attire gave her the freedom to move quickly and easily when hunting her prey.

My Happily Ever After

'Dillo Love

When one is wearing an armadillo covered skirt the best place for pictures is the desert don't you agree? Well it made sense in my head anyway. If you have never noticed I have a thing for wearing black and white with a pop of color here and there and this look is no exception. There is just something fun about a black and white look with red shoes. It's like a pleasant surprise when you get to my toes.

My lips wanted to get in on the pop of red action today too, so I let them.

Spring is in the Air

Spring is in the air and anyone who has allergies can attest to that. I will however take all the sneezing and watery eyes if it means I can have flowers and sunny days again.

A little hard and a little soft for today. I say hard, because of the leather of the jacket, it gives the soft yellow a tougher edge. At least that is my humble opinion. I picked up this outfit while on a little shopping bender this weekend.

Siblings

There are the kinds of siblings that you are born with and then there are the ones you choose. The ones you choose are sometimes the ones that know you better than the other. When I saw this pose I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it. You see in my head the caption for this photo has always been "Siblings have your back". Sure it's super punny, but you should come to expect that from me now. I am lucky enough to call these two family now you know since I married one of them. My New Furry Friend

Every days it's the same thing. He goes off to work and I am left all alone. I mean sure I get things done while he is gone, but it gets lonely, especially when he works late or goes on trips.

I mean we have a cat, but she is so independent and well just downright mean that I decided we needed a new member of the family. A furry member of course, so off I went. I have to say when I saw him it was love at first sight and I knew exactly what to name him.

Meet Topper! He is named after an old black and white movie with Cary Grant, one of my favorites actually. In fact we watched it just the other night. I don't have to worry about Topper going to work. In fact as long as I walk him and feed him and scratch him behind his floppy ears he sticks to my side.

The Things I Do

Lola may be the best friend and SL sister a girl could have but she is also an evil task master. You see there are no free rides in the world of Arcade. Oh no I have to work for the leftovers that Lola throws my way. In fact she left me a whole list of chores to do! First I had to tackle the kitchen floor.

Sweeping the kitchen floor isn't too bad since she doesn't actually cook. I think it is mostly cookie crumbs on the floor from her kiddo. However the next task on the list I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy. She had me clean the bathroom! And this after said kiddo decided to flush a whole bunch of stuff down it. I wonder if they ever replaced the cell phone that took a swim...

At least I had some music to listen to so it wasn't all bad. By the time I finished the list I was wiped out!

Does anyone else have to suffer through tasks like this to get extras from their family?

The Sorceress and daughter

There once was a kind and powerful Sorceress. She only used her powers to help others, much to the dismay of the other Sorceresses around. One day she had to go pick up a few supplies from the local Wizard and decided it was time for her daughter to come along and start her training.
The Wizard had all the supplies the Sorceress was looking for, even the unicorn tears which are extremely hard to come by. So it was time to head home. The Sorceress scooped her daughter up..
...and off they headed towards home to brew up a special potion. What that potion was I can not say, but I am guessing it was something powerful.

Rockabilly Criminal

I look like I am trying to be all subtle getting into the car. I am such an (un)smooth criminal. So here I am all rockabilly-ed up because Lola didn't think I could pull it off. I know I should be insulted but whatever, I rocked this shit!

Recently Nomine I had a big sale on Marketplace and Lola and I were looking at all the mesh dresses (which you will see more of)and she bet I couldn't do a rockabilly look. I can't back down from a challenge so here it is.

What do you think did I pull it off well? I admit I had help picking the hair and tattoo, because sometimes you need a second opinion. As I said, the dress is mesh and as will all mesh I suggest trying a demo.

I'm late for tea!

Today is my take on the March Hare. I think my March Hare looks like she is ready to party and drink, but not necessarily tea.

I went with the tried and true bunny AV from DPyumyum, the one I got during the CSR event a while ago.

Maybe I was meant to miss posting this yesterday because today as part of FLF Schadenfreude has a vest just like the one I am wearing for sale in white. I think the vest I am wearing was actually out for FLF around Valentine's day. Since I am strange I made sure Miss March Hare had a little something extra in her vest. That's right I have defiled the cute bunny once again by giving it cleavage. I can't help myself! I think the only thing My poor little Hare is wearing that even remotely relates to a tea in anyway is her necklace.

The other day Brandy did a post with involving an album cover, go read it here. She asked if anyone would be willing to do the same. Well I took a few and this one is my favorite. I wasn't going to blog it but I was prodded into doing it. The prodders know who they are! If you have no desire to see it then feel free to move on, I will just go into the corner and cry feeling all heartbroken and rejected.

I chose the cover of the Dashboard Confessional album Dusk & Summer. It's so pretty and there is so much emotion in the cover, the songs aren't too shabby either :)

Aikea Rieko has done it again and released another item that has me at her feet professing my undying love to her.

The Bordello dresses have got to be her best work yet. Thirteen versions of this gorgeous slip dress are now available at The Plastik. They are available on all layer which is a huge plus and that lovely leg lace is included :D

I'll be perfectly honest with you, up until now I wasn't really much of a dress girl. Sure I wear one on occasion to look cute but never something like this. But after seeing the Bordello dresses I had to give it a try and now you couldn't force me out of this dress if you tried!


The amount of detail put into these dresses is incredible. There are several patterns and colors to choose from to fit any one's style. The lace detailing across the chest is beautiful and the wrinkle details are perfect. My photos seriously don't do justice to the work here. Another thing I want to point out that is one of the main reasons I usually don't wear dresses like this but am so madly in love with this one. The prim between the legs. Now ladies, I know you have all seen how badly those things can match and it makes us sad and not wear these short dresses. Do NOT fear my lovelies! Look at the photos, the prim matches so well it's hard to even tell it's there! It's magic I tell you!

Big, Curvy, voluptuous...

...call it what you want. Last night I decided to peruse the feeds before calling it a night and I saw a few post referring to a new blogger challenge. I am a sucker for a challenge so I had to check it out. Make a big AV look cure, well shoot I can do that right. Well since I like to think I look cute most of the time I just dressed how I would normally.

I decided to embrace the cooler weather and wore a cute sweater from Truth. The only modding I had to do was make the scarf a little bigger to work with my erm bigger sweater meat. The only other thing that needed modding were the boots since as a bigger girl I have bigger calves. Who would have thought. I had to wear the boots because they are my latest obsession.

Jammie Party!

Last night was the Slumber Party at ~silentsparrow~ and boy was it fun! There were bodies plopped all over the ground in front of the screen as we all watched, out of sync of course, Pretty in Pink. Some people were seeing the movie for the first time...that's right Sakura I am totally calling you out. Anyway I thought I would share my look from the party because frankly I thought I was adorable.


Yes I have elf ears. I couldn't help myself they have frogs and I love frogs. I even had pet frogs once, they were named Shaggy and Scooby. I also have my dollie, quite a few people had a friend with them at the slumber party last night. It was kind of cute to see grown men with plushie little friends.

Even Sakura brought a friend and I got to know it a little to well when she squished me last night. Never has the movie Pretty in Pink seemed so long!

Spotlight: Eye Candy Belisama's jewlery for Black Swan

Long enough title huh? Well in the spotlight today we have one of the offerings from Eye Candy that can be had from the Swan Song event over at Black Swan. Belisama's Mantle is sold as separate necklaces or the Liz Taylor pack which features all three, the option I totally suggest. First we will take a look at Belisama's Torc.

The Torc is the simplest of the three and I don't mean that in a bad way. Trust me when you see the other two you will understand. The gold of the Torc has a hammered sort of look to it in my opinion. I love the way the pieces flow from one to another so fluidly. Watch we got from Torc to the Jewels.

See what I was saying about flowing together? Notice how the the back is the same at the front of the Torc and now you have this fancy front. Now I have struggled with what to call the adornments hanging from the necklace, are they feathers, talons or am I putting too much thought into naming it instead of enjoying it's beauty? Last, but by no means least of the trio is the Mantle.

Again we have the flow from one piece to the next with the Mantle incorporating parts of the Torc and Jewels into it, but still being it's own at the same time. The Mantle is made up of red jeweled feathers. It just begs for an exposed back to showcase it in all it's glory. After seeing all three now you can understand why I called the Torc the "simplest" of the group. Click on the pictures for larger views, you won't be sorry.

Hitting the beach

*waits* Done yet? Yeah I stare at my cleavage too, who wouldn't? Best part about my awesome rack it that I didn't have to waste a clothing layer to get it. Bonus! See that is the new Aoki skin from Rockberry and it comes with or without the cleavage. See I am a cleavage lover, heck I even made my sweet innocent bunny not look so erm flat. But I should stop before this turns into a post all about my obsession with my own boobs. Oh no this post is all about the newness I am wearing. Bathing suit-new, necklace-new, skin-new! I already told you where I got my skin (which I haven't take off since picking it up) so that leaves the necklace and bathing suit. My swimwear is a new release from Likka House and it comes with a black and white version in the pack. It's great if you are looking for something other then a bikini.

Now the necklace that I am wearing is a new release from Naive. Leah has branched out into jewelry and I have to say her first offerings are perfect for the summer. Of course my darling 4 year old just asked me why I have a necklace on at the beach. She may have a point I would hate to lose it in the surf. Anyway the new jewelry at Naive is perfect for casual everyday wear, even at the beach!
