The Cabaret Singer

He sits alone illuminated by light,
The soft gentle glow of a single candle
He looks on only to behold such a beautiful sight.
She who stands alone on a dimly lit stage her melody caresses the air,
 like velvet on velvet he cannot help but stare.
Across the stage floor she weaves and turns like the leaves in an autumn painted park.
Her voice so tender as she sings her sweet sultry songs that carry beyond the dark.
He cannot help but fall for her charm the way she holds her microphone as she sings so calm.
Their eyes suddenly meet she can't look away, this song she sings of love is coming true today.
Lyrics that dance off the page as she sings her words so softly leaving the stage, afraid
to fall she hears his heart singing above her song, and a feeling has come over her like never before. Clutching her microphone he takes hold of her free hand, and with a gentle silencing kiss she finally understands.
 The man who watches her from his seat has fallen deeply for her, and his heart once empty is now complete.

She Sits Alone

She sits alone in her chair
fingers twirling around her hair.
Her thoughts disturbed by many a thing
lost love has cast it's dreadful sting.
The house remains empty the furniture in despair
for lack of company she once shared.
His face she misses his smile and charm.
He was the one who tamed the fire that raged in her soul, and made it once again calm.
And so she sits alone in her chair
fingers twirling around her hair.
A closed book lay beneath her feet
another chapter in her lonesome life she is yet to complete.
One day happiness will come to her as she waits,
picnics dinners, and other fancy dates.
A chance to live again and forget the man she lost
her heart has turned cold into such a wintery frost.
With each day comes a new hope in her life
for one day in the near future she will rejoice in life again,
and become some lucky mans wife.
