Music Mondays - Love Fool

      Back to the Nineties we go this week, with Love Fool by The Cardigans. I wish I could remember why I chose this song, other than it coming up on a playlist on Pandora. Either way I pulled different elements from the music video for today's photos.


      I wish I had something great to say today, but sadly my brain isn't fully functioning yet. Lack of caffeine and all. I do have a closer photo of my outfit to share so have a peep.


      Next Monday I think I am going to go for a more "now" song...maybe.

Taking a Moment

      After enjoying the sights of the season it what time to engage the my other senses. The smell of crisp leaves mingled with the spiciness of my cider as a gentle breeze rustles the leave that still clung to the trees. I picked up my warm mug of cider and relished the tart taste of apple mixed with the spices of the season. The warmth of the mug radiated up through may hands as the warm liquid slide down my throat, all of me warming with that one magical elixir.

      Then I woke, realized I lived in the south and it was still hot, and everything was still green. At least I can get some hot cider and pretend.

Always Tulips, Never Roses

        Everyone has something they prefer, when it comes to flowers it's always tulips and never roses. I just don't care for roses, nor do I care for diamonds. Yes I wear diamonds, but the ones I wear have sentimental value. In my digital life that dislike doesn't carry over as much. You see in my digital life I don't have to smell the roses (not a scent I am a fan of), no do I feel uncomfortable in diamonds in my digital life.


      While roses don't bother me in my digital life I will always pick them up whenever I see them being sold.

All the lemons

      They say when life hands you lemons you should make lemonade. The only way that lemonade is going to help is if there is something a lot stronger mixed in. Why am I mentioning this time worn saying you may wonder, well life handed me a crop of lemons in the last couple of months. No one warned my when your hip joint is inflamed that it can hurt like a monkey trucker! Sitting, walking, anything and everything hurts. Luckily it has been all handled and I can move on. Starting with this post and it's lemons.


      Honestly though if life is giving you lemons bake them into something delicious or use it for garnish on a nice strong drink. Now spring has sprung and one of my favorite yearly events is around the corner things are going to start picking up again! The one thing being stuck away from the computer has done is given me lots of ideas so beware!

A Snowy Afternoon

      It's been a while since I have actually seen a snowy day, which is a good thing for me. However it doesn't mean I have forgotten about snowy afternoons gazing out the window at the snow gently falling. Really I like to keep these pretty pictures of snow in my memories instead of the gross side of the road snow, and the shoveling out cars. Those days where there was a fire roaring making the house all cozy and warm, perfect for an afternoon curled up with a cup of coffee and a good book. Winters now mean everything is a duller shade of green and there are an abundance of little old men and ladies around.

Sugar Plum Guardian

      Every year around this time I read The Nutcracker, I have read it since I was younger and got it as a gift from my parents. I still read it to the girl child even though she has been able to read for quite some time now. With the new Nutcracker move that has come out it got me thinking. Well also the outfit from Schadenfreude got me thinking too. I was going to do the much expected ballet type photos, but that seemed to obvious so I came up with these.

    

  I figured the realm where the Sugar Plum fairy lives would have to be guarded some how. Sure it could be guarded by more Nutcrackers, but I think a staff wielding ballerina fairy is cooler. There she is guarding the portal that will lead to the lands of the Sugar Plum Fairy. I am pretty sure her staff can blind you with sprinkles, jimmies, shots, it whatever they are called where you call home.

   
      I wouldn't want to mess with her so make sure before you try entering the lands of the Sugar Plum fairy you have a proper invitation, or else you may be seeing rainbows for the rest of your mortal life.

Reindeer Recruits

      Yesterday I showed you the cookie, cocoa, and candy making division of the Santa's North Pole enterprise. Today we are going to check out the reindeer. We know the names of the classic eight, and Rudolph, but did you know they are constantly recruiting more reindeer? You see sometime the reindeer get injured playing with reindeer games so there is always a need for backup. The recruits go through rigorous trials to find those just right to guide the sleigh at night. There have been some recruits that don't pass muster for the big show. These reindeer don't just get turfed out into the barren north, instead Santa finds other jobs for the non-sleigh deer.

      Sometimes when the elf meets the new recruits it's not the lot that is expected. There are some angry deer in this crew this year and some goofballs too! Her first task was to get them all up and in a line. If they can't line up, well it's hard to harness them to the sleigh. 

      Try as she might she had a hard time getting a certain reindeer to stand at attention. This one had a hard time following directions and so now he will become a pet for one of the elf families. It's kind of like having a pet dog to them. I am not certain how it works as I wasn't allowed into any of the elves home either. Maybe next year I will be lucky enough to maybe see how that works.

Let the craziness begin!

      The holiday season is kicking in and that means I am on my computer more often than not. I mean between looking up recipes and ordering all the things online it's amazing I can actually do other things. I am overly organized and need all my little ducks marching in line or I lose it. I have gone rage shopping over a gingerbread house, my family still feels guilty about that.

      Shhh don't tell anyone but that screen I am staring at was actually a screenshot of what I was actually googling the day I took this picture. Sadly I can't remember what I was looking for a recipe for. Also my desk is way more cluttered than my virtual desk. Oh well, now to get to the grocery store to throw down over stuffing and the like. On the plus side I can always buy more wine at the grocery store.

      If you look carefully you can see that wee pumpkin says coming soon. No it's not some sort of baby announcement, the bridge to the baby factory had been burnt to the ground. No it's just my cheeky way of saying the holiday pounds will be showing up soon. I can control myself around candy and cookies, but show me some turkey and gravy and all the yummy foods on hand for Thanksgiving and Christmas and all bets are off. Last year I made this weird stuffing/mashed potato pancake thing with cranberry sauce on top with the leftovers and it was amazing! Also this restaurant near us makes a stuffing waffle with turkey and gravy and I think mashed potatoes on top. It may sound gross but it was amazing. My mouth is watering just thinking about the foods. For now I will content myself with a peppermint mocha and some holiday movies. Hey don't judge me!

The Good Witch

      It appears I enjoy using Pop Culture references for my witches and the Good Witch is no exception. If you haven't guessed yet I am talking about Glinda the Good Witch from the Wizard of Oz movie. You know the old school one with Judy Garland as Dorthy? As with all my witches I changed some things here and there.



      As you can see I put aside my dislike for pink to bring you a pretty pink Good Witch. I also skipped on the bubble traveling, one wrong move of my wand and that sucker would pop, well like a bubble, and I don't feel like hurtling to the ground!



      I am happy it gave me a chance to wear my frog tiara. It may seem weird to some, but in my non-digital life I collect frogs, no living ones though, they would not survive the cats. That is all for today, as you can probably guess I saved the Wicked Witch for you for tomorrow, after all it will be Halloween.

Are You Ready For Some Football?

       Football season has officially kicked off, no pun intended. I will admit that I naively thought that today was the beginning of the season. It made sense to me since Sundays and football go together like beer and hot wings. I was informed by the friend I wrangled into taking these pictures with me that football season actually started on Thursday. Now I know that around the world football is something different so in case you were confused I am talking about American football. I have no idea when the other kind of football season starts.



      I would be lying if I said I was a real football fan. I really only watch the Superbowl, and that is usually just for the commercials and half-time show. I may also get too loud and riled up when I do watch football, so it's best that I avoid it. I don't really have a team that I root for, but I usually go with the home team. Go Jags! When I was younger and not as broken as I am now I did play some football with guy friends. I was not afraid to try and tackle them. Their girl friends would watch from the sidelines, which is hindsight...nah who am I kidding being on the field was much more fun!


      Do you have a team you support? If so who? I know my friend here is a Carolina Panthers fan, and they happen to be playing today so I know where he will be.

County Fair

      Around these parts there are a lot of fairs and festivals. One of my favorites is the Datil Festival. For those who don't know the datil is a hot pepper, and St. Augustine is there the majority grow. I friend of mine grows her own and makes sauce and jelly with them. It is amazing. This is not about the Datil Pepper Festival though, it is just what inspired the idea of county fairs and the like, which in turn inspired this post.



      On of the best things about state and county fairs are the food. At the aforementioned Datil Festival you can get all types of food flavored with the datil pepper. I do not suggest the vegan chocolate with pepper though, unless you like that sort of thing. I like my treats sweet, like cotton candy. Oh or churros, I have a possibly unhealthy love of churros.



      Man just talking about churros has me seriously craving them now. Then again it is getting to be Fall and unlike many people my Fall flavor of choice is apple cinnamon. Speaking of which I happen to have a apple-y donut waiting for me. I am going to go eat that while you peruse the credits!

Sisterly love...sort of

      Gather round children as Auntie Phire tells you the tale of two very different sisters. One sister was all sunny and happy, the other sister was well she was a little icy. The Sunny sister knew she would be seeing the stick in the mud frost queen soon at their nephews wedding, and she wasn't thrilled with the idea.




      Secretly the sunny sister wasn't alone in her feelings. Their other siblings also thought the frosty one could be a little full of herself, but they only spoke of that in hushed tones. Everyone thinks that the reason she is so icy is because the sunny and fun one came along so she was no longer the baby, after a twelve year reign. Listen sometimes accidents happen and the sunny one just happened to be one of those happy accidents.


      As you can see the sunny one has no problems sharing her opinion about the sucky sister. I am sure she will be nice at the wedding, but afterwards all bets are off. Sunny knows she will have to be nice for at least one family photo, but maybe she can sneak a horned photo prop into the reception...

Channeling Katherine

      When I first saw the combination of this sweater and trousers combo it immediately brought to my mind Katherine Hepburn. I know, I know, I need to lay off the older movies for a while, but I just can't help it. While she may have been wearing a dress, or suit of some sort, I always imagine her in something like this.


      Okay so she most likely wasn't eating toast with a chocolate hazelnut spread and bananas, but this girls loves her chocolate. I don't think I am quite like Katherine, you won't catch me swimming or playing tennis in the mornings. I am a terrible tennis player. We do however share some common ideals, but this is not a political arena so I will leave that be.  This is were we shall part for today. Until next time be a good human.

Wedding Season

      May and June are always chock full of celebration's that it can get exhausting. Not only do you have graduations, but there are weddings around every corner. Sometime you are a guest and other times you are in the bridal party. That means photos, and lots of them. You do your duty for as long as you possibly can, but then you just need to let loose. Maybe while you picture partner is looking pretty for the camera you can give a quick wink to the hottie best man.


      If you are lucky you won't get caught by  the photographer. I don't suggest doing such at a graduation party, unless they are finished with college. In that case flirt away!

Beach Time

     After the start to the week I have had I could use a little soothing beach time. I mean there is no way I am going to go into the water, I am not crazy like my small humans. The sound of the ocean always recharges me and we have had a couple days when it has reached the 80's no the beach isn't too bad of an idea. The problem is the nice beach time always seems to fall during the week. Sometimes being a responsible adult is hard work. Wanna know what was easy? I'm gonna tell you anyways. Buying new skins at the Skin Fair when it was happening was easy. Getting the time to write about them, not so much.


    It seems even in my digital life I still care about sun protection. This skin is that kind of tan that lucky people are blessed with. Me, if I were to go out in the sun with my non-digital skin peoples faces would melt off because of the sun reflecting of the glowing paleness that is me. My little humans call me a vampire for a reason and it is no from a thirst for blood. Oh before I forget, there will be a special surprise on the blog soon, so stay tuned!

Quiet Afternoon

Living in the southern part of the United States I don't have to worry about snow or other wintery nastiness. That means I get to spend more time outside, which is a lovely thing. This is what a typical afternoon would look like, well with a few changes. For starters it would be one of the kids hanging out with me, and they would be drinking something other than coffee. And to be honest I would probably be reading on a Kindle or using a tablet. Okay the girl child and I would be wearing Disney hoodies instead of sweaters, but otherwise it's totally a normal afternoon.

Game Night

I can't remember if I mentioned this before or not, but I have been playing RPG in my non-digital life for almost two years now. It was all new to me as I never played D&D or anything like it when I was a kid. The (mostly) guys that I play with have all been doing this since their youth so I was completely clueless. Every year we pick some sort of gaming system and setting. This year we are taking turns being the GM/DM. The first game we played I chose to be a bard. I basically just wanted to make up bawdy songs for my own amusement. As usual I had help creating my character so she is a whip wielding, lute playing half-elf bard.



This is what happens with the non-digital Mister helps me create a character. In fact I am wearing more clothes that I think my character does. This past weekend I didn't get to use her because the group was so small we decided to do a one off game. Guess who got to the the GM/DM, that's right this girl. It was my first time ever and luckily I didn't do as terribly as I had thought. Fine there were only four people instead of the usual ten or so, but that made it easier on me! Now I have revealed my not so secret nerdy side, lets move onto the credits.
