Toys for each girl and boy

      While I was at the North Pole I learned something. Now I wasn't given specifics, but it appears that Santa is the biggest importer in the world. He told me he had several companies throughout the world to get the goods he needs for making every Christmas gift. It seems these businesses are "run" by elves, but they look human as to not arouse suspicion. I asked how this was possible and was again given the "Christmas Magic" excuse. It seems that they even import all natural fabrics and dyes for some of the stuffed animals. I was allowed into the toymaking training workshop. You see before the elves are allowed to move on to more complicated toys they need to master the basics, stuffed animals and wooden toys.

      As you can see the wooden toys come in a variety of ways, though it looks like someone snuck in a non-wooden toy into the workshop. Every toys gets played with for a little bit just to make sure they will hold up. The stuffed animals seem to get extra snuggles from this elf. The elves in the toy workshops all end up with tons of boxes laying around because after the toys are tested they are sent to the gift wrapping workshop before making their way into Santa's magic bag. We will see that workshop tomorrow!

One of my favorite places

There is a place near me in my non-digital life that I love to visit. You get the best of old historic sites mixed with modern shops and restaurants. Whenever I visit, which is as often as possible, I am always discovering new hidden treasures. Of course there are a few must visits, like a bar owned by an old hippy that sells pirates grog. It tastes like a boozy apple pie, I may have indulged a little too much one time and asked a guy if I could touch his snake. It sounds dirtier than it was, he had his pet boa constrictor around his neck. I am rambling here I am sorry. Whenever I visit it is always full of laughs.


And yes in my non digital life in the south I am still just as pale as my digital life picture shows. It takes hard work to stay looking like Casper the Friendly Ghost!

Followed by a Nightmare

              Have you ever had a bad dream that woke you up, a terrifying nightmare that you just can't shake? I know I have, it feels almost like there is a dark cloud over your head. Maybe it isn't a dark cloud, maybe, just maybe, that nightmare is a thing. A haunting creature that stalks you throughout your day.



             Even the sweetest and kindest of us are not immune to nightmares. How does one beat a phantom? Does it take happiness to defeat this foe? Or could it just be that after time the Nightmare simply fades into obscurity? Whatever you do, fight hard and don't let the Nightmares win!

Watching the snow fall

I may no longer get snow where I live, but that doesn't mean I can't pretend. I haven't given up drinking coffee in this warmer climate either so it makes sense to have it in my hands. I admit I am trying to drink tea instead when my hands are freezing. Thus far I have a zero percent success rate. Oh well there are worse vices out there to be sure. For now I shall continue to sip my coffee and remember the days of snow (not that I would give up my sunshine for snowflakes)

Autumn

This year I am getting used to a whole different type of autumn than I have known. Warm days and green leaves are not what I grew up with, but I am sort of liking it. However the hurricane bit I could do without. I shouldn't complain, because all the sunshine and green makes me a happy camper. Well not a camper because I am not a sleep under the stars kind of person. I do however like to take walks. On of my favorite places to walk around is Old Saint Augustine. If you ever get the chance you should totally visit. I should stop there before I turn this into a tour guide post.

My Week With Livy - Day Five - Kite Flying

I am a big fan of the Disney movie Mary Poppins, so I am always wanting to fly a kite. I decided that kite flying should be one of the activities that I do with Livy. It probably would have been more effective in the spring or even at the beach, but she didn't care. Just getting her kite that little bit off the ground was enough to make her day. The best part for me was that she exhausted herself running back and forth so she slept like a champ.

Pond Side

Some days you need to just take a break from all the craziness and have a little time out for yourself. Or share it with a duck, ducks don't mind. Kitty Sitting

Watch my cats she asked, don't worry they are well behaved she said. I foolishly believed her.

Now I am trying to get work done and there are kitties everywhere! Sure there are the well behaved ones chilling under my desk, but then there are the trouble makers. I didn't even think there was room in my purse for a cat to squeeze into! And then there is the one nestled in my box of receipts. I hope my accountant isn't allergic to cats. Then there is the grey one, he likes being on my desk, mostly on my keyboard so I am hoping the tablet will keep him occupied for a little while. One, two...six. Six!?!?! I could have sworn there were seven! Be right back I have a kitty to find!

I found her! She crept upstairs. How I could have missed her purpleness not being downstairs with the rest is beyond me. Hopefully their mommy will be back from her trip soon. I think one on one is more my speed when it comes to kitties.

At Peace With Winter

It's Groundhog's Day today and the prediction from Phil and Chuckles (our state groundhog) is that it will be an early Spring. With the mild winter we have had I don't think that is any surprise. That being said I think I have come to have an appreciation for Winter and the snow that it brings. This could be because I know it is my last winter in the Northeast. Gone will be the need to shovel, the threats of snow days and the ice slicked roads. The idea used to terrify me. I have never lived anywhere else, now I look at it like a grand new adventure. This adventure is leaving me buried in cardboard boxes currently, but it's all part of the fun right? So I shall bid a fond farewell to the winters I have known and embrace the winters yet to come.

Garden Maze

I have always wanted to go into a garden maze before in my non-digital life, and one of these days I hope to. I have had fun in corn mazes before, but it's just not the same as lush garden greens. So for now I have decided to be content with the digital version.

I have always wondered what happens if someone gets lost in a garden maze. I mean you can't exactly cut through the hedges, at least not that I imagine. How do they make sure no one is lost in it over night? I guess I could Google it but the answers I make up in my head are probably more amusing than the truth. I took several wrong turns and hot many a dead end before coming to the center of the garden maze I visited.

When I did get to the center it was very serene. There were butterflies flitting about and of course flowers. As you can see there are tulips in the center and tulips just happen to be my favorite flower.

A Winter Dream

The nice thing about having a dream, especially a snowy one, is that you can't feel the cold. Which means in dreams you don't have to be bundled up in a warm coat and all the other nonsense one needs in the winter.

I didn't just wander in my dream. I met people along the way. The first people or are they cookies, that I met were a pair of Gingerbread Men who looked to be playing hide and seek. They were quite friendly all smiles and waving. I wonder if I would have tried to eat them if I liked gingerbread.

Next I came upon a little group of fairies. They were adorable! I wanted to fly around with them and play. Sadly even in my dream I was unable to fly like them.

I came as close as possible by climbing up on the mushroom. Maybe if the alarm clock hadn't gone off I may have taken flight. Isn't that always the way it goes? You get to a good part in a dream and then it is time to wake up. Oh well there are always other nights full of other dreams.

Shades of Brown

Brown seems to be the prevailing color in my world at the moment. I am sure it will soon be replaced with white, but for the time being there is brown. The trees are naked! I also realize I have been wearing boots a lot lately. I think that is because in my non-digital life I live in boots this time of year. It's possible I may have a boot addiction. But that is for another day. I chose the red purse for a pop of color against my brown canvas, though it does come with a HUD so I could have gone all brown. I think the red was a good choice.

There are many things that I envy about my digital self, one of those is her ability to always look good in a hat. She doesn't have to deal with hat head when taking one off. Oh well, at least with this hair I could wear it with or without the hat. I however think the hat looks good and besides you not want that heat escaping. I think I may have yammered on enough this morning. I will free you from my thoughts by sharing the credits of this look with you.

Autumnal Respite

I know I am going to make you sick with all my autumn themed posts for the next couple of months. I would apologize, but autumn is my favorite time of year. I have been waiting for just the right outfit to wear while sitting on this bench and I finally saw it at FaMESHed yesterday. The shirt and jeans from Rebel Hope paired so well with the cozy boots from C'est la Vie that are part of this month's round of Mix.

           Hey look I am not jay-walking. Which is a good thing, because if I got ticketed it wouldn't turn out too well for me. I am playing with browns and whites today. Flea Market Finds

Here is a little more useless information about my non digital self. My parents have collected and sold antiques for as long as I can remember. This means that from a young age I became very familiar with flea markets. Even when on vacation my parents would hit flea markets. How they ever planned to get anything big home is beyond me. Flea markets have such an eclectic mix of items that is was actually pretty fun as a kid, since there were toys in some stalls. Playing the tourist

Summer vacation is winding to and end here in my little corner of the world.That means back to school and that comes along getting ready. That means it is time for one last trip and to fill my senses with somewhere new. The sites and smells of somewhere new can be a welcome break from the usual.

Having a camera with you to take pictures is a great way to bring back all those feelings from your trip, especially if it was a good one! You could also throw them into a scrapbook if that is what you are into. Or is you are more like me they will sit on your computer waiting to be viewed again and maybe printed off.

Blue Pier-iod

Why yes I did make a cheesy reference to Picasso's period of paintings. What can I say wearing that much blue and being on pier just made it too easy. I however am no where near as talented as the famed painter. Thought it would be fun to change things up and wear a more "non-traditional" hair color for a change.

I liked how the hair sort of matches the fading colors of the shirt and shorts I am wearing. You could almost think I planned it that way. It's true I did, but that is part of the fun of playing dress up. I will leave you with the credits now because my coffee hasn't quite kicked in so my brain cells aren't exactly fired up. My Mushroom Hideaway

Everyone needs their own little hideaway, some of us only get a small space in their home, but Miss Elfy here gets a mushroom hideaway. Sure it doesn't have all the comforts of home, but there is a rug and and bench and I am betting she has some books stashed away in there too. I know if I had a hideaway like that I would have a whole bundle of books tucked in there and maybe a little cooler for drinks.

Time Out Troublemaker

My adorable little niece Livy has been visiting me a lot lately. I thought I would make a cute little space in my house for her to enjoy, a small play area complete with some space for me to chill and watch her.

Of course as with all kids she caused a little mischief so I needed to put her in time out. Even the fun Aunt needs to have some rule. She was less than thrilled with me.

After her time out we had a brief review of the rules and then some cookies. Cookies make everything better. I may have also promised her a trip to the beach in the future.

Ice Cream Time!

There is nothing better on a hot summer day at the beach than ice cream. I love the beach, even if I do burn like it's my job. In fact I do love the outdoors in general, it's just the sun doesn't love me back. I mean here I am looking like a sunset with a sunny necklace and still no love from the sun!

Oh well even if the sun isn't showing me love I will still love it. My ice cream is really delicious, would you like a lick?
