I missed my calling

I always wanted to be a figure skater and I had dreams of Olympic Gold. However the North Pole doesn't get represented in the games. You see the big man thinks that 1. It would give away the secrets of Christmas if we competed 2. We would have an unfair advantage, something about inherent grace. Oh well I can still dream right?
I do adore getting out on the ice and swirling and twirling around like a ballerina, only on the ice.
Maybe you would like to try your luck on the ice. It is really great fun and then there is always hot chocolate afterwards!

My Home - The Upper Loft

Lat week I showed off my igloo home. I may have mentioned that it is bigger on the inside than it looks. There are actually 3 floors and I share the igloo with a few others. Today I am going to show off the upper loft. Other than my bedroom this is where I spend most of my time...when I am not feasting on cookies that is.
Before you ask, no I do not have a Christmas tree up year round, that would just be silly! This the the couch where I chill out after work most days. I don't think I told you what I do up at the North Pole. Well you know all those letters the children send? Well my job it to catalog the wishlist of the letter writer, that way after Santa is done checking the list we start filling orders.
Some days I will finish up at home or just work from home for the day. The big man doesn't care as long as the work gets done on time. He's the best boss anyone could ask for.
I am not above taking the occasional hot cocoa break during the day, or even the evening. It's always the right time for cocoa afterall. My favorite has just a hint of mint to it, so yum! I will continue my tour of the house on another day. Until then remember...you better be good for goodness sake!

Living at the North Pole

I don't know what movies are trying to convince you humans, but we elves do not live in a cute little village of adorable wood houses. Have you seen the North Pole? There isn't a tree around anywhere! Yes, we have wood to make the toys, but it is to make the toys with. Would you like to see where I really live?
That's right I live in an igloo. I know what you are thinking, but it's bigger on the inside I swear. Maybe on another day I will show you around the inside.
This is my pet Penn, he likes to play with his ice cubes. I made them to look like a child's blocks. I am trying to teach him to spell "Merry Christmas", but it is not going to well. I also have some neighbors...
The polar bear family may look fierce but they are more like teddy bears. They are always out playing together, it warms my little elven heart.

My tour of the workshop

I was lucky enough to score a guided tour through Santa's workshop by one of his elves. Of course I didn't get to see the big man because he was exhausted from his activities last night. The tour started outside with the reindeer stables, well the stables are just where they relax during the day, they have really posh places to sleep in at night but I wasn't allowed into their private quarters.


I don't know what they feed the reindeer but even the stables smelled like Christmas trees and cinnamon! Next stop was the toy making area. Ella, my elf guide, told me one of the best jobs is to test the cuddle factor on the stuffed animals and dolls.


That doll is off to a little girl somewhere next year. The elves are always making new toys, just in case. After that it was time for a snack so we headed off to the kitchen to bake some delicious cookies. I was told that everyone has a certain favorite so today was chocolate chip cookie day.


After our snack of hot cocoa and cookies it was time to see one of the many decorated trees around the workshop. Ella was particularly proud of her elf sized tree she decorated with her friends.


She did an excellent job with the tree don't you think. Finally the last stop was the busiest most important room in the workshop, Santa's office! I for to see his desk complete with the naughty and nice inboxes. It's true he is working round the clock to check that list (well you know when he isn't out or sleeping).


I am so thankful to Ella for the special tour and to all those celebrating Christmas today I wish you a Merry Christmas and to anyone who isn't well then I wish you a Happy Holidays and Happy Sunday as well.
