Kitty Cuddles

This little kitty reminds me of my Hazelnut, my fur baby who loves her snuggles. When I am writing I usually have to take a break because she has decided the narrow space in front of my keyboard is the perfect nap spot. Or if I am writing on paper she will bat at my pen to get my attention. She is a highly demanding little creature, but her cuddles are the best. I can't deny her when she wants some loves, she has me well trained. I think her majesty is waiting for a treat, I better go before she gets too, well troublesome.

Baking Pies

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving here in the US so it's time to bake those pies. There is only so much room in the oven with the big ol' turkey in there. So today Livy and I went on a pie baking mission at my house while her mom cleaned theirs. First up was making the crust. This is not as fun as I had thought. In fact it took me more than one try to get the crust right. I am new at this crust from scratch thing. I did have quite the adorable helper.


After baking the pies we needed for tomorrow we decided to use the leftover crust dough and filling to make little hand pies. I should have known not to turn my back on a little trouble maker...


That little Thanksgiving turkey stole one of the mini pies and tried to run away from me! Oh well her mom will have to deal with a messy sugar monster tonight and not me. I am such a loving sister!

Fresh Ingredients

Thanksgiving is Thursday here in the US so it's time to get ready for the food! This past weekend I went to get apples and pumpkins for our pies. I decided to take Livy with me for some auntie-niece bonding time. Well her mom may have begged me to take her with me to get some alone time for a few hours. Who am I to say no to a desperate sister? Our first stop was the pumpkin patch.

We found the the right sized pumpkins to whip up a tasty pumpkin pie from scratch. After that we had to make a quick stop at home to change. I hadn't anticipated the muddiness of the pumpkin patch before we left and our clothes were a mess! Our next stop was the orchard to pick some apples for apple pie, and of course some for eating too.

We had great fun at the orchard. Livy liked that I let her climb a ladder, carefully supervised of course. I am not that irresponsible, most days. After we finished picking a big bucket full of apples it was time to head home. Livy told me she has a secret to tell me before we left. She told me she found a big wriggling worm in an apple. I was not nearly as enthused about this as she was. Lucky for me she fell asleep on the way home so I didn't have to hear more of her wormy apple tales. Tomorrow we get to work on making those pies.

My Week With Livy - Day Five - Kite Flying

I am a big fan of the Disney movie Mary Poppins, so I am always wanting to fly a kite. I decided that kite flying should be one of the activities that I do with Livy. It probably would have been more effective in the spring or even at the beach, but she didn't care. Just getting her kite that little bit off the ground was enough to make her day. The best part for me was that she exhausted herself running back and forth so she slept like a champ.

I will admit this was my silliest day with Livy. Whenever we went out people assumed I was her mom. I mean I get it it's not that far of a stretch, so I had fun with that. My Week With Livy - Day Three - Swimming

Yesterday I showed off the pictures of Livy and I catching fireflies, today we are swimming! Livy wanted to show me how she can swim without floaties now. I recently had a pool installed at my house and we used that. we actually hit the pool most days, but this was the day I actually had a friend around to snap a picture. Looks like they got my best angle. Noe looking at the picture, Livy and I were color coordinated with the pool and it's tiles quite nicely, go figure.

My Week With Livy - Day Two - Catching Fireflies

On the second day of...no wait it's not Christmas time yet. Let's try that again shall we? On day two of Livy's visit I thought it would be fun to catch some fireflies. I hadn't done it since I was a kid myself so it took a fair amount of practice for us to finally catch some light up creepy crawlies. Livy was quite proud of her catch. Of course being the nice people we are, we released the fireflies shortly after we caught them. I though I was trying to teach her a deep lesson, she just thought it was so she could catch more. Oh well at least I can say I tried.

My Week With Livy - Day One - Playing Princess

As you can see I had a not so little visitor this past week. I updated her room in my house just before he visit. What can I say she visits often and I want to keep my "Awesome Auntie" status. She may have grown out of some things, but playing princess isn't one of them. Well I mean sort of. You see she has realized that the Fairy Godmother really has all the power and not the princess. School Ties

Are we in detention or maybe study hall? I don't have a lot of personal knowledge about detention I was one of those "good kids" when I was in school, I wasn't a tattle tale though that is for sure. I did do my fair share of note passing while in class which could explain why I failed the classes I sat near friends in. It was okay though because I think they didn't do any better.

It doesn't matter how well we did in class because we always had each other's back. I wonder how well I would do in school now a days compared to when I was in high school back in...
